--Tonight is the Annual Green Fair Folk Festival in front of the St. Francis Convent in Little Falls. From 4:00-8:00pm there will be live folk music, followed by the U Rock Bands, kids games, face painting, register to win a utility vehicle, horse and buggy rides around the convent and lots of food and drink. --A 35-year old Long Prairie man accused of using a knife to kill his girlfriend was charged with second-degree murder. Jose Raul Herrera-Torres was charged in Todd County District Court and remains in custody on a $1 million bond, with conditions. The criminal complaint alleges that Herrera-Torres stabbed 58-year old Dominga Mejia Guerrero at their home at 451 Todd Street South in Long Prairie on Thursday, July 27th. Her body was found at about 8:00pm that night by another person who lived at the residence and called police. Authorities said Guerrero died of apparent knife wounds. The next morning, the Long Prairie Police Department and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension issued an alert asking for the public's help in locating Herrera-Torres. They received a call from the Long Prairie CentraCare Hospital that Herrera-Torres was being treated in the emergency room for knife abrasions on both forearms. His clothing was also covered in blood. Herrera-Torres was transferred to the St. Cloud Hospital and then after being treated was taken into custody. Herrera-Torres' next court hearing is August 14th.

--Around 12:25am Monday the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a possible suicidal male at a residence on the 3400 block of County Road 113. Deputies responded to the residence and located a fish house that was fully engulfed in flames. Pierz Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. Upon examining the burnt remains of the fish house, deputies located a deceased victim inside. It is believed that the remains are that of the suicidal male. The remains were transported to the Ramsey County Medical examiner. The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office is awaiting positive identification on the victim.

--Around 5:00pm Friday a Crow Wing County Deputy stopped a vehicle near Highway 6 and County Road 11 after he recognized the driver as 36-year old Charles Alvin Weber who had an active arrest warrant for him. While conducting the traffic stop, deputies located items in the vehicle which they believed were stolen from recent burglaries in Crow Wing County. In the prior weeks, deputies responded to several residential burglaries in the Emily area. Through past investigations, deputies know that Charles Weber is a convicted burglar and had just been released from prison approximately two weeks prior to this traffic stop. Deputies were able to positively ID some of the property in Weber’s vehicle as being stolen from recent burglaries in the Emily area. Deputies also located suspected methamphetamine on Weber. Weber was booked into the Crow Wing County Jail on charges of Possession of Stolen Property, 5th Degree Possession of Controlled Substance and Parole Violation. Charles Weber appeared in Crow Wing County Court and is currently being held on $40,000 bail.

--Area law enforcement is reminding motorists and residents of an uptick in bear in the area. Recently reports of bears in fields, near homesteads and being struck by vehicles have been reported by area law enforcement. Just a reminder to watch out for bears.

--Crow Wing County Investigators recently arrested 29-year old Joshua Anthony Bourn of Baxter for possession of child porn. On July 3rd, Crow Wing County investigators received information from the International Crimes Against Children that they had information that an individual was downloading suspected child porn. On July 13th, Crow Wing County Investigators executed a search warrant at a residence located on the 6500 block of Clearwater Road in Baxter. As a result of the warrant, investigators seized several computers and electronic storage devices. Investigators then examined the contents of the computers and storage devices and found approximately 1000 images of child pornography. Bourn was charged with 19 counts of Possession of Child Pornography. Bourn appeared in Crow Wing County Court and is currently released on bail.

--A 16-year old Freeport girl was injured at about 5:00pm Monday when she lost control of her vehicle on a gravel road near Albany. Frances Klaphake was driving on Sand Lake Road when she lost control and overcorrected, which caused the truck to leave the road just north of the intersection of Stearns County Road 40 in Farming Township. When deputies arrived, the truck was on its roof in a cornfield. Klaphake was transported to the hospital for minor injuries.

--A 24-year old Litchfield man crashed into a cornfield in St. Augusta Township at about 10:15pm Monday after swerving to avoid a deer on the road in Stearns County. Spencer Phillips was southbound on Stearns County Road 142 when he overcorrected and left the roadway just south of the intersection of 207th Street. His car rolled once. Phillips did not need medical attention.

--A 54-year old man convicted of soliciting an underage prostitute will serve five years probation plus time under electronic home monitoring. Kevin Barnes of Waite Park was arrested in March 2016 in a prostitution sting. He was an employee in the finance department of St. Cloud State University at the time. Barnes was convicted by trial in May for agreeing to hire a prostitute under the age of 18. He was sentenced Monday on a felony charge.

--Today is Senior Day at the Crow Wing County Fair. Events include Model T Club and Old Homestead Power Tractor Club on parade. At noon the midway opens and there will be the Senior Day Recognition, music starts at 1pm, grandstand event is the Monster Trucks and Quad Show at 7pm. PIERZ= Pierz opens pool play at 4pm Thursday against a team from Wisconsin- this is the first game of 3 for Pierz they will also play at 1pm and 6pm Friday in North Dakota. Following the three games, the top four teams are seeded to play Saturday with a 3rd place or championship game Sunday as part of the Central Plains Regional Tournament. All games will be heard live on FM94 KFML.
