--The Little Falls Area Chamber of Commerce announced their February Employee of the Month is Susan Batlers. Batlers has been a Nursing Assistant Registered at St. Otto’s Care Center for 38 years. Congratulations Susan Batlers, February employee of the month.

--The Minnesota Military Museum is featuring Army Dentist Col. John Harvey Lien of Willmar in their Featured Veteran Exhibit through March 31st. The public is invited to view the entire exhibit on Col. Lien along with all the exhibits in the Minnesota Military Museum. During winter hours the museum is open Thursdays and Fridays from 9:00am-4:00pm and by appointment. Current Featured exhibits include “Minnesota Voices from Vietnam”, and “In the Fight: Minnesota and the First World War”.

--A 33-year-old man was killed Saturday in an all-terrain vehicle crash in Sherburne County. The press release said officers received a call about an ATV that had overturned in an agricultural field shortly after 11:00pm near the intersection of 172nd Street and 319th Avenue. Jacob Draper of Princeton, died at the scene after life saving measures were not successful. The incident is under investigation.

--Three St. Cloud-area residents may face charges after law enforcement officers found drugs and firearms during three simultaneous home searches on Tuesday. As a result of the search warrants 44-year old Lamont Tyson of Sauk Rapids was placed under arrest. Tyson could face felony charges for violation of a domestic abuse no-contact order and being a person prohibited from possessing a firearm. Officers also arrested Terry Glasgow Jr. and Valerie Johnson. Both could face charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, child endangerment, receiving stolen property and possession of a short-barreled shotgun. Glasgow could face additional charges, including fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance and being a person prohibited from possessing a firearm. Both Glasgow and Johnson were taken to Stearns County Jail and are awaiting court proceedings.

--A Brainerd man, serving time for first-degree arson for starting a garage on fire in 2015 in Brainerd, has appealed the district court's decision on his conviction and has lost. Steven Whitney took his court case to the the Minnesota State Court of Appeals, challenging his first-degree arson conviction stating the prosecution failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he used a flammable liquid. The state court of appeals Monday ruled against Whitney and affirmed the Crow Wing County District Court's decision on his conviction. Whitney was sentenced in December of 2015 to five years and seven months in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud.

--The Brainerd Lakes Chamber of Commerce has named Seth Neistadt as vice president. Neistadt has been married to his wife Emily for 23 years and has three children. He is a member of the Brainerd Lakes Sunrise Rotary Club, The Journey North Community Church and Christian Business Men’s Connection.

--Lindbergh Elementary PTA is hosting a family fun event on Friday from 6-8pm at Lindbergh School in Little Falls. The event will have carnival games for 50-cents, snacks, beverages and a lot of fun. You are asked to park at the back parking lot above Flyer Field to enter the elementary school on Friday night. All are welcome to attend.

--AM960 KLTF Party Line will be live today at 10:00am at Holy Trinity School in Pierz for Catholic Schools Week.

--Congratulations to the Pierz Mechaneers Robotic team for qualifying for the VEX State Robotic tournament held February 3rd and 4th in St. Cloud. Members of the team in Pierz are Jesse Pettey, Duncan Osborne, Simon Kroll, Jaden Lindeman, Michael Faust, Grace Osborne, Andrea Schaefer, Levi Taylor, Katie Schaefer, Bradley Pawlu, Jacob Fuhrman, Jody Nelson, Andrew Poster and Creo Block.

--Six people were involved in a fatal crash Tuesday night near Foley in Benton County. An SUV crossed the center line and collided head on with a vehicle that had three young children in it. The State Patrol said a 35-year-old from Foreston is dead and more details are expected today on the driver and passenger in the SUV. Authorities stated that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

--Domestic violence deaths dropped significantly in Minnesota during the past year. The Femicide Report from the state's Coalition of Battered Women says at least 21 people were killed in domestic incidents in 2016. That's 13 less than the previous year. The report says at least 18 women were murdered by present and former husbands, boyfriends, and other partners. Three of the victims were relatives or friends of those caught up in domestic situations. At least 14 children were left without mothers as a result.

--On Saturday, January 21, 2017, an estimated 3-4 million people took part in what is likely the largest protest in U.S. history, the Women’s March. While the primary march took place in Washington D.C., with over 500,000 in attendance at that location, there were “sister marches” around the globe, spanning all 7 continents. It is estimated that 90,000-100,000 attended the Women’s March in St. Paul, Minnesota. The intent of marchers was to promote civil rights, gender equality, diversity, and inclusion. The Morrison County Historical Society (MCHS) is interested in gathering stories from local people who took part in the Women’s March, no matter which march location they attended. There will be an informal gathering hosted by MCHS at The Charles A. Weyerhaeuser Memorial Museum in Little Falls on Saturday, February 11th at 10:00am in order to allow Women’s March participants to share their experiences. This event is free and open to the public. --The Little Falls Area Chamber of Commerce invites all community members to a legislative dialog with Representative Ron Kresha and Senator Paul Gazelka on Friday from 9:00-10:30am at Little Falls City Hall in the Council Chambers. Attendees will have the opportunity to direct questions and comments regarding issues that will impact the 2017 legislative session to Senator Gazelka and Representative Kresha.
