--23-year old Jeffrey Thomas appeared in Crow Wing County court Monday on charges he allegedly poisoned a 4-month old baby girl by feeding her anti-freeze and de-icing fluids. Thomas has been charged with first degree attempted murder with premeditation along with other charges. The baby became critically ill on January 20th and has been at Minneapolis Children's Hospital where testing found the child ingested glycol found in anti-freeze. The parents denied the allegations. They stated they did not have any anti-freeze in the house, only very watered down jugs in the garage. A search warrant found empty jugs of de-icer and ethanol based anti-freeze which were substances found in the infant. Thomas's phone also had sites of what anti-freeze can do to the human body on it.

--The Benton County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect vehicle in a theft from a business. November 6th 2017 the Benton County Sheriff’s Office received the report of a theft from the True North Tower business in Sauk Rapids. Investigating deputies found that between 11-04-17 and 11-06-17 a suspect had broken into several vehicles and trailers at the business. The suspect had stolen numerous tools, including hand tools, cordless power tools, and tools specific to the work involved in maintaining radio towers. Surveillance footage was recovered from the business that showed a suspect vehicle described as a light colored 2000 to 2006 Chevy Tahoe. This suspect vehicle has a roof rack, a sun roof, possible damage to the left rear tail light, and a larger than normal receiver hitch. Investigative efforts to find this vehicle have been exhausted without success. --A 36-year old was injured Sunday afternoon in Baxter when his snowmobile crashed off of Cypress Drive. Isaac Novak told authorities he missed the ditch or trail off the road and struck the ground, making him go over and through the windshield of his vehicle. He was treated and released at the Brainerd hospital for lacerations.

--A St. Cloud man was jailed early Saturday after allegedly crashing his car into a St. Joseph building, then fleeing the scene. St. Joseph Police were called to CMS Autobody at 109 Cedar Street after a car crashed through the building's exterior and came to rest inside. Officers arrived shortly after 2:30am to find the car abandoned. Police located the driver a few blocks away and identified him as 53-year old Jason Wiener. Wiener was jailed on suspicion of 4th degree DWI and a 5th degree controlled substance charge. There were no injuries but the building did sustain substantial damage.

--Two women were hurt in a two-vehicle crash near Big Lake. The Minnesota State Patrol says it happened about 8:15pm Monday on Highway 10. A vehicle driven by 26-year old Brianna Erickson of Becker was going west on Highway 10. Meanwhile, a car driven by 35-year old Brittany Oakes of Becker was going east on Highway 10. Oakes tried to make a left turn onto Industrial Drive when the two vehicles collided. Oakes and his passenger, 58-year old Elizabeth Neuman of Big Lake, were both taken to Mercy Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Erickson was not hurt.

--Jeff Anderson, aide to U.S. Representative Rick Nolan and a former Duluth City Councilor decided that he will not be running for Congress in Minnesota’s Eighth Congressional District. Anderson pondered the thought of running after Congressman Nolan announced he would not run for reelection in November.

--On Tuesday, Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larson stated that due to the agency receiving a grant through the National Joint Powers Alliance they were able to unveil their Mobile Command Post. The Mobile Command Post will be used for many instances to include critical incidents, public outreach to our youth, seniors and natural disasters. It will be accessible to all counties within the NJPA region 5 area which includes Morrison, Todd, Crow Wing, Cass and Wadena Counties. Those five counties are the Region 5 Area.

--A 27-year old St. Cloud man has been charged with assault on suspicion of punching another man during a fight Saturday. St. Cloud police arrested 27-year old Thomas Edward Kilman, shortly after midnight Saturday morning. Kilman faces a third degree assault charge in Stearns County. He will return to court April 23rd.

--A 29-year old Sartell man is facing a felony assault charge for hitting his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend with his truck. Andrew Justin Nagel was arrested Sunday. The maximum sentence for second-degree felony assault is seven years and/or a $14,000 fine. Nagel made his first court appearance Tuesday. An omnibus hearing is scheduled for April 12th.

--The Friends of the Carnegie Library in Little Falls are hosting their book sale Thursday, Friday and Saturday during the library hours. The sale is to help get funds for programs and upkeep of the library which is over 100 years old. If you wish to donate to the sale, you can give books to the library during their regular hours or come during the sale. The sale opens tonight for Friends of the Library members only and then opens to the public on Thursday at 10am.
