--At 6:07pm Monday the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a man that was run over by a tractor at a residence in Elmdale Township near Upsala. According to the Sheriff’s Office, 80-year old Gerald Vornbrock of Burtrum, was attempting to start his “Farmall H” tractor by hand with a hand crank and forgot he had it in gear. As the tractor started, it accelerated forward and Gerald was unable to get out of the way, due to the ice. The tractor knocked Gerald to the ground and the back wheel of the tractor ran over his pelvic area. Gerald Vornbrock was taken by ambulance to St Gabriel’s Hospital. His condition is unknown.

--Garrison firefighters battled a rambler home fire Saturday around 3:30am on Highway 18 in Bay Lake Township west of Garrison. When they arrived the fire was over the roof and on the back corner of the house. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the bedroom area of the rambler and were able to save the rambler from being completely destroyed but it did sustain extensive damage to the roof and back of the house. No injuries. A space heater was to blame.

--Two people were injured in an accident in Clear Lake Township near the Stearns/Sherburne County Line. 75-year-old Daniel Schyma was driving on Highway 25 at the intersection with Highway 10 when he missed the stop sign due to fog, the vehicle went over the railroad tracks and left the roadway rolling over. Daniel and his passenger 74-year-old Doris Schyma both of Coon Rapids were taken the St. Cloud Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

--Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl reports that a two vehicle crash with injuries took place on County Road 3 and Morningside Drive last Friday around 6:22am due to slippery conditions. The driver of one vehicle, 53-year old Gretchen Mishler of Pillager and the driver and passenger of the other vehicle, 77-year old Sidney Tousley and 76-year old Elvera Tousley from Crosslake were all transported to the hospital with unknown injuries. Area law enforcement was kept busy with numerous vehicle related calls during the morning hours of January 20th, 2017 due to the slippery road conditions.

--A 13-year-old Saginaw boy critically injured in an ATV accident back on January 16th has died. Authorities stated that the accident occurred when Logan Rautio was riding a three-wheeler at the end of a driveway when he slid into a snowbank and was thrown from the ATV into a metal post at a junction box near Island Lake. Rautio was not wearing a helmet. On Saturday his father told the media that his son, Logan, had died from his injuries at a Duluth Hospital.

--A Stearns County grand jury indicted John Magney on three counts of criminal sexual conduct and if convicted he could serve a life sentence. Magney was charged in December after being accused of assaulting a 14-year-old girl at a Waite Park residence. A court complaint charging Magney indicates he provided the girl with a drink while she was watching a movie. The girl felt dizzy after drinking from it. Magney is accused of undressing the girl and forcing intercourse on her. A witness walked in on the assault in progress and Magney left the residence. The witness had to help the girl get dressed. According to the Stearns County Attorney's Office, the indictment was sought due to Magney's prior offenses. In 1982, Magney was convicted after assaulting a 4-year-old girl in Mille Lacs County. He was convicted again in 1997 after assaulting a 6-year-old girl. He is being held in the Stearns County Jail on $1 million bail.

--Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton says he’s been diagnosed with prostate cancer but will finish the final two years of his term. Dayton made the announcement Tuesday, just a day after collapsing while delivering his State of the State address. Dayton says he doesn’t think his diagnosis with prostate cancer is connected with his collapse during his State of the State address.

--Two Central Minnesota lawmakers have introduced a bill at the state Capitol to honor a Paynesville soldier awarded a Medal of Honor posthumously for his heroic actions during the Vietnam War. Rep. Jeff Howe, R-Rockville, and Sen. Michelle Fischbach, R-Paynesville, authored companion bills that would rename a stretch of Minnesota Highway 23 for Kenneth L. Olson. Spc. Olson, a 1963 graduate of Paynesville High School, served in the U.S. Army as a member of the 5th Battalion and the 12th Infantry Regiment. On May 13, 1968, according to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, he was participating in a mission to reinforce a reconnaissance platoon that was heavily engaged with a well-entrenched Viet Cong force. Olson and a fellow soldier moved forward of the platoon to investigate. As the two men advanced, they were pinned down by intense automatic weapons fire. Without regard for his own safety, Olson exposed himself and hurled a hand grenade into the Viet Cong position. As Olson prepared to hurl another grenade, he was wounded, causing him to drop the activated device. He threw himself upon the grenade, sacrificing his own life to save the lives of his fellow soldiers. The Medal of Honor is the nation's highest military honor. The bills were referred to committees for possible hearings.

--Two people are safe after their pickup went through the ice. The incident happened at about 12:20pm Sunday on Horseshoe Lake in rural Munson Township, near Richmond. The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says 30-year-old Yang Toua, of Columbia Heights, was leaving the lake when the pickup broke through the ice. Toua and his passenger, 29-year-old Ge Xiong, of Minneapolis, were able to get out of the vehicle before it sank into about six feet of water. The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office is reminding you that ice conditions on lakes are deteriorating due to the recent warm weather.

--Lou Buron passed away Monday. Buron began his career in radio at KVSC in St. Cloud then worked in radio through the Twin Cities and beyond in the 1970's before beginning his own company Omni Broadcasting in 1988. Omni owned stations in Bemidji, Alexandria, Brainerd, Staples-Wadena before selling to Hubbard Broadcasting in 2014. Buron also started the Radiothon to end Child Abuse which has raised nearly 2-million dollars in their cause. Funeral arrangements are pending for Lou Buron.
