--The St. Cloud Police Department is investigating two different convenience store robberies that they say were likely committed by the same suspect. The first happened June 27th at 4:19am at a convenience store in the 4200 block of Clearwater Road. The second was on July 27th at 11:13pm at a convenience store in the 2500 block of 2nd Street South. In both cases, authorities say, a man wearing a red pullover hoodie with white lettering, a black ski mask and gloves entered the store and demanded money from the cash register. Investigators say they believe the suspect was armed with a handgun during both robberies, but the gun was never fired, and no one was hurt. Evidence was recovered at the scenes, and investigators are actively following up on leads. The video footage is grainy, but police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect. Anyone with information is urged to contact the St. Cloud Police Department or Tri-County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-255-1301.
--The Minnesota State Patrol says a 21-year-old Maple Lake man is dead after he was hit while riding his bike at dusk on Sunday night. Officials say around 9:20, the cyclist and a driver in a Jeep Cherokee were both headed west on Highway 55 when they collided near the intersection with Dempsey Avenue Northwest in Maple Lake. The driver of the Cherokee is from Howard Lake.
--A Cold Spring man who sexually assaulted a young girl has been sentenced in Stearns County District Court. A judge has sentenced 42-year-old Hector Medina Acosta to a stayed sentence of three years in prison and will be on supervised probation for 25 years. Medina Acosta pleaded guilty to a felony charge of 2nd-degree criminal sexual conduct with a victim under 13-years-old. Court records show Medina Acosta assaulted the girl when she was as young as 10-years-old. The abuse happened between 2013 and 2015 when the victim and Medina Acosta lived together. The girl said Medina Acosta touched her inappropriately several times during that time.
--The Minnesota State Patrol reported a 46-year-old from Princeton was hurt on Highway 95 around 7pm, Sunday but injuries were not serious. The State Patrol reported that a fatal accident in Wright County and serious injury accident in Isanti were speed related on Sunday and remind motorists to watch speeds while traveling.
--The Brainerd Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at 10:34pm Sunday at the intersection of Pine and Walnut streets.
When crews arrived on scene, they found a pair of socks on fire in the middle of the intersection. Fire crews extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher and turned over the scene to law enforcement. No injuries were reported. Crews also responded Saturday at 9:06am to the 4700 block of Bon Arbor Lane for a report of a CO detector going off. Crews determined there was gas in the building and ventilated the residence until readings were normal. Fire crews cleared the scene upon the utility company's arrival.

--A 16-year-old driver was injured in a two vehicle accident on Highway 10 and County Road 14 in Randall just after 11am on Tuesday morning. 80-year-old Thomas Vonderharr of Roseville was eastbound on Highway 10 when the 16 year old was in the median and attempted to crossover the eastbound lane and collided with the Vonderharr vehicle. Vonderharr and his passenger were not hurt. The 16 year old who was not named in the report was taken to the Staples Hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries by the patrol.
--Thirty-two-year-old Robert Bernard has pleaded guilty to 3rd-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a victim between the ages of 14 and 15 years old. Charges filed in Stearns County District Court alleged Bernard went with the girl to a north St. Cloud apartment building and had sexual intercourse with her. The victim later told police that more than one man sexually assaulted her while she and another girl were runaways. The other man charged in the case is 26-year-old Andre Sudor Jr. Police made contact with Bernard at an apartment in the 500 block of 8th Avenue South the morning of May 5th after the second runaway girl had called police to report the incidents. The victim was found the following day and gave a statement to the police about the assaults. Court records show Bernard admitted to having intercourse with the victim but said she told him that she and the other girl were over 18.
--A number of new laws go into effect tomorrow August 1st. The laws have to regard firearms purchasing, threatening public officials or judges, more protections in the Human Rights Act, rights for parents with disabilities, stopping deceptive marking of vapes just to name a few. TWINS= Mets beat the Twins 2-0 last night in more of a pitchers duel in New York. The Twins finish up in New York today with the Mets, pregame this morning at 11:30am on Q92 WYRQ. Also the Twins made one deal before the trade deadline yesterday trading for Toronto relief pitcher Trevor Richards for a minor league Twins player.
OLY= Simone Biles, Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles and Jade Carey's "redemption tour" is complete after they earned gold in the women's gymnastics team final yesterday in Paris with Biles and Lee adding the finishing touches to the gold meal victory. The individual competition is still to come. Also Coco Gauff fell to Donna Vekic in the women's singles third round. She paired up with Taylor Fritz in the mixed doubles first round and won in tennis. Katie Ledecky swam her way to advancing in the women's 1500m freestyle. The Olympic men's soccer team advanced to the quarterfinals of an Olympics for the first time since Sydney. After Tuesday's action the USA still leads the overall medal count with 26, though only 4 Gold medals, 11 Silver Medals and 11 Bronze Medals so far.
LOCAL= All Sports meetings are next week for Little Falls, Pierz, Royalton and other high schools to get ready for another season.
