News

–At 2:23pm Monday the Morrison County Sheriff ‘s Office received a report of a two vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of Iris Road and Edgar Drive, in Little Falls Township. 65-year old Barbara Stanley of Rice was traveling south on Edgar Drive as 42-year old Chad Zarns of Little Falls was traveling west on Iris Road. The vehicle driven by Stanley pulled out onto Iris Road and was struck by the Zarns vehicle. Stanley was taken by ambulance to CHI St Gabriel’s Hospital for unknown injuries.

–At 8:28am Tuesday authorities were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Stearns County Road 13 and 17. 44-year old Michael James Charpenter from Little Falls, was driving a semi tractor and pulling a trailer westbound on CR 17. Charpenter stopped at the stop sign and continued westbound. 31-year old Mitchell Bryan Lorentz of Miltona, was driving a van southbound on CR 13. The two vehicles collided in the intersection and both of them started on fire. Charpenter and Lorentz were able to get out of their vehicles without being burned. Both drivers were treated for minor injuries at the scene by Melrose Ambulance and did not require transport to the hospital. The accident is under investigation by the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol.

–Shortly before 8:00am Monday the Motley Police Department was asked to assist with a driving complaint. It was reported that a white Chevrolet Impala was northbound on US Highway 10 and was driving erratically. The Motley Police Department located the vehicle in Motley and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop and left Motley southbound at a very high rate of speed. The vehicle then crossed through the center median and continued travelling southbound in the northbound lanes of US Highway 10. The vehicle came to a stop when spike strips were deployed in Cushing and the driver was taken in to custody. 32-year old Adam Michael Inerrieden is being held in the Morrison County Jail pending charges.

–The Randall Medallion was found on the Tuesday morning. It was found by Tom and Pam Zak’s grandchildren, Alex and Emma Holey; Maddie, Katie and Joey Zak; and Sammy and Jack Sanders. The medallion was located on a support beam behind the Randall Businesses sign at the intersection of Pacific Avenue and First Street. Congratulations to the winners who will receive the $300 reward.

–A Maryland man faces drug and weapons charges after a State Patrol trooper stopped a speeding vehicle near Melrose and found 40 pounds of marijuana and firearms. The traffic stop June 20th led to the arrest of 24-year old Sankung Bayo. He was one four people in a vehicle stopped after a trooper saw it speeding and noticed the vehicle didn’t have a front license plate. Besides the drugs, also in the vehicle were a rifle and a handgun. Bayo is prohibited from possessing firearms because he has convictions in Maryland for aggravated assault and drug possession. A Stearns County judge set bail for Bayo at $250,000 at his first court appearance.

–A Sartell man who admitted to sexually abusing an altar boy has been sentenced to five years in prison. 56-year old Douglas Kleinsmith pleaded guilty in April to two counts of 3rd degree criminal sexual conduct involving a teenager younger than 18-years old. Court records show Kleinsmith volunteered to train altar boys at a St. Cloud church when the boy was 15. According to the criminal complaint, Kleinsmith sexually abused the boy on at least four occasions when he was between the ages of 16 and 18-years old.

–The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man found dead June 22nd on the banks of the Mississippi River in St. Cloud as 58-year old Edward Theodore Rogers. No foul play is suspected in his death, which is attributed either to Rogers jumping or falling from the Granite City Crossing Bridge. At the time he had no permanent address. The police reported his last known address was in St. Paul. Pedestrians on the south side of the bridge called police reporting seeing a body on the river bank.

–A St. Cloud man faces 10 counts of child pornography, accused of sharing several videos on a “peer-to-peer” network. 34-year old Samuel David Teachman is charged in Benton County District Court with five counts each of possession and dissemination of child pornography. Teachman admitted to investigators that he viewed child pornography and that he uploaded it to the Internet. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance on July 18th.

–A Waite Park man has pleaded guilty to attacking his girlfriend which left her with a swollen and bruised face and two missing teeth. 47-year old Hakeem Rochao avoided a jury trial when he pleaded guilty to one count of felony first degree assault last week. Court records show Rochao was in an argument with his girlfriend in the early morning hours of March 28th when the assault happened. The woman escaped and ran screaming to a neighbor’s house to call police. Rochao left the scene and was later found in Sauk Rapids and arrested. The Stearns County Attorney’s Office indicates they will be asking for more than eight years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for July 27th.

–Yesterday marked the 22nd annivesary from when Long Prairie native and Mason City, Iowa news anchor Jodi Huisentruit disappeared. June 27th, 1995, the anchorwoman was last seen going into the parking lot of her apartment complex while on her way to work at KIMT-TV in Mason City, Iowa but never arrived to work. Since 2002, members of the FindJodi.com, Inc. team have analyzed thousands of leads. Many professionals and others have searched, and tried to figure out what happened to Jodi. The investigation by authorities into her disappearance is still active and ongoing.

WNBA= Lynx return to action Friday night at Phoenix.
NBA= New York Knicks have announced that Phil Jackson and the team have parted ways. An official statement is expected today.
