NEWS
–The 6th annual Day of Caring in Little Falls is on Wednesday, May 4th from 8:00am-12:00pm. Teams of volunteers consisting of Little Falls High School students and community members will assist homeowners who live within the city limits of Little Falls and Randall who need assistance with outdoor projects like raking yards and washing outdoor ground floor windows. Registration forms for homeowners or interested volunteers are available now at the Little Falls Radio Station, Little Falls City Hall, Randall City Hall and numerous other locations around town. Forms must be mailed out to Live Better Live Longer and postmarked by Wednesday, April 13th. For information call 631-5677. Also Live Better Live Longer is part of the 30 Day Bike Challenge beginning this Saturday and going through the month of April. The event aims for everyone to at least once a day ride a bike (inside, outside, or stationary). A free kickoff event is this Saturday from 10-3 in the parking lot on 2nd Street Northeast in Little Falls. The event will feature free bike tune ups, register for the 30 day challenge, the Easter Bunny will be there, bike rodeo, Stryder bike races for kids and more. Again this Saturday and its all free.

–A jury trial for 24-year-old Tyler Cronquist of Brainerd has been scheduled for June 20th at 9:00am in Crow Wing County District Court. Cronquist is accused of shooting two people in a Juniper Street Apartment on January 4th, 2015 where one of the two died. A hearing was scheduled Monday but cancelled when prosecution and defense opted to move forward for scheduling a trial date. Cronquist is charged with first degree muder with premeditation and attempted first degree murder with premeditation. 27-year-old Nathan Becker is charged with aiding and abetting Cronquist. Becker was to stand trial last September but a Rule 20 was implemented meaning that Becker was mentally ill or not compentent to stand trial. A review hearing for Becker is next Tuesday. The shooting in January 2015 killed Joseph Kroll and seriously injured Chelsey Crawford.

–The Stearns County Sheriffs Office received a 911 call reporting that someone was attacked by dogs. The investigation revealed that Julie Lingl was walking her small dog along the shoulder of the road in St.. Joseph Township around 4:30pm Monday. When they passed the Rak’s residence, who had several dogs, including 2 adult boxers which were contained in their fenced back yard. The 2 boxers jumped the fence and attacked Lingls’ dog, resulting in its death. When Lingl tried to pick up her dog from the road, the boxers attacked her. Lingl suffered severe injuries to her legs. She also suffered multiple lacerations and puncture wounds to her arms, hands, back, head, and face. She was taken to the St Cloud Hospital for treatment of her injuries. The Sheriffs Office seized and quarantined the dogs pending conclusion of the investigation.

–The St. Cloud Police Department is investigating a robbery after two men, one who was armed, stole property from Ace Bar & Grill in St. Cloud. Officers were called to the 423 East St. Germain St just before 2:00am on Monday morning after the report of a robbery. A victim said two men entered the bar and began stealing property. One of them was armed with a baseball bat. The suspects fled the scene before police arrived. Officers searched the area with K-9 unit, but were unable to find the suspects. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the St. Cloud Police Department at 320-251-1200, or the Tri-County Crime Stoppers at 320-255-1301.

–St. Mary’s University of Winona is sending out a plea looking for a missing student who is from Ironton in Crow Wing County. 21-year-old Luke Ringhand went missing early Monday from the campus. He was seen around 4:30am leaving campus in his charcoal gray Cadillac with license plate 749-MBD. A release by the campus said that law enforcement had been contacted and that they were concerned for his safety and well being. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 507-457-6302.

–Three people were recently charged for drug crimes after law enforcement seized more than 8 grams of heroin and more than 7 grams of methamphetamine in Onamia. Officers executed a narcotics search warrant March 10th on Virgo Road in Onamia. Besides seizing the drugs, agents also found several firearms and stolen property from recent burglaries. 26-year old Steven Scottleswort Aune was charged with second-degree possession of a controlled substance and two counts of fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance. 25-year old Kyle Alan Aune was charged with second and fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance. 53-year old Von Shane Aune was charged with fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, obstructing the legal process, disorderly conduct and receiving stolen property. Three other individuals were also arrested inside of the residence for outstanding warrants.

–A 32-year-old mother was arrested this past weekend after drug enforcement agents executed a search warrant at her Onamia home and seized heroin and methamphetamines that were in plain view within the home. Officers executed a search warrant at 10:15pm Saturday on the 17000 block of Aninaatig Loop in Onamia. During execution of the search warrant officers seized more than 22 grams of heroin, 8 grams of methamphetamines and $2,800 in cash. Ricki Arlene Boswell was placed under arrest. Boswell was charged with first and fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of hypodermic syringes and drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine-related crimes involving children and vulnerable adults. Boswell’s two children were immediately placed into protective custody through the Mille Lacs Band Family Services.

–A St. Joseph teenager who pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography will attend a long-term correctional program. Ebin Bergerson, then 17 received an extended juvenile jurisdiction sentencing March 16th. He was given an adult sentence of 20 months in prison, but will not have to serve that sentence if he completes a long-term residential corrections program at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Red Wing. Bergerson will remain on probation until his 21st birthday, and if he violates any of his conditions of probation, could be made to serve the adult sentence.

TWINS= Twins beat Baltimore 5-1 and Philadelphia 7-5 yesterday in split squad spring training play. Exhibition games continue through April 2nd then Twins open regular season at Baltimore on April 4th.
