NEWS
--A Little Falls teenager received minor injuries in a rollover Monday night. The crash happened shortly after 6:00pm on 133rd Street west of Little Falls. The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office says 16-year-old Christian Brink of Little Falls was going west, when he lost control of his car on a gravel road, entered the ditch and rolled. Brink was treated for minor cuts and bruises at the scene.

--The Camp Ripley/Veterans State Trail will be hosting an ATV Ride to celebrate that after many years of effort they are finally ready to “turn dirt”. The CRVST is the only “State Trail” (DNR designed and built) that will be multimodal by design. This trail will accommodate bicycles, ATV’s, snowmobiles, walkers, equestrian, and other types of trail users. The ride will begin at 1:30pm on Friday, October 7th at Fort Steak House in Fort Ripley located on Highway 371 north of Little Falls. Some ATV dealers are providing ATVs for those without access to one. For information contact Bob Reinitz at (320) 616-5849.

--The Little Falls Area Chamber of Commerice is hosting a forum of Ward 1 and Ward 2 candidates for Little Falls City Council this morning at City Hall. Ward 2 (northeast side of Little Falls) candidates are at 9:00am and Ward 1 (southeast side of Little Falls) candidates will be at 10:30am. These are forums not debates and questions have been provided to them prior to the forum. This gives each candidate a time to speak about why they are the best candidate for the seat on the Little Falls City Council. The public is invited to attend.

--Around 1:10pm on Monday the Crow Wing County Sherriffs Office responded to a crash involving two logging trucks near the intersection of Swanburg Road and County Road 1. One semi-truck and both trailers were overturned. The trucks were driven by 63-year old Richard Christopherson of Brainerd and 55-year old Timothy Fiene of Pine River. Fiene suffered minor injuries and was transported by a personal vehicle for medical attention. The crash remains under investigation by the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol.

--Two people were hurt in a crash on Highway 23 in Cold Spring. About 9:15pm Monday a truck driven by 35-year-old Nathan Verch of Spicer was going west when it crossed into oncoming traffic and sideswiped a semi and trailer. Verch and his passenger, 35-year-old Claire Verch of Spicer were both taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the semi, 46-year-old Rodney Winter of Murdock was not hurt.

--The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a fatal two vehicle accident on Highway 10 and Highway 65 in Sherburne County between Clear Lake and St. Cloud. The accident happened around 1:25pm. One driver 84-year-old Rose Wipper of Clear Lake was killed when she crossed the intersection and was struck by 53-year-old Joel Saldana of Rice. Saldana had non-life threatening injuries.

--A skid loader started on fire Monday night near Lake Henry. The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says it started at about 7:40pm on 220th Street in Lake Henry Township, about a half-mile west of Lake Henry. A passerby called in a report of a skid loader fully engulfed in flames. The owner, 56-year-old Karl Schlangen, says he normally stores the skid loader in the shed and believes the rain caused an electrical issue. No buildings were damaged. No one was hurt.

--The 3rd Annual Pine Grove Zoo Zoofest is this Saturday from 11-3 at the zoo. FM94 KFML will broadcast live Saturday 11-1 from the zoo.

--Little Falls Mayor Greg Zylka has proclaimed October 2nd through the 8th as Minnesota Manufacturers Week in Little Falls. The Mayor is partnering with the Chamber of Commerce and Community Development to showcase Minnesota’s diverse manufacturing industry and to increase legislative and public awareness of the importance in providing high-wage, high-skill jobs for communities.

--The Minnesota State Patrol identified the two people killed in a Tuesday morning crash on Interstate Highway 94 as 40-year old Calvin Hess of Kenmare, North Dakota, and 39-year old Myron Bishop of Thompson Falls, Montana. The three-vehicle collision took place at 5:54am Tuesday west of Osakis. A Freightliner semitrailer driven by 28-year old Terrence Conway of Monroe, Louisiana, was pulled over on the shoulder of the westbound lane of I-94 when a vehicle driven by Hess, veered and collided with the semitrailer. A semi driven by 65-year old Larry Winter of Hoffman, then made contact with the stopped vehicle, which was partially in the westbound lane. Bishop was the passenger in Hess' vehicle. The patrol said Conway suffered injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. Winter had no apparent injuries.

NATIONAL NEWS
--Tyson Foods Inc., known for their frozen chicken treats, is recalling 132,520 pounds of full cooked chicken nuggets because they have be contaminated with hard plastic, says U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety Inspection Service. Food officials say that this is a Class I recall, where even the slightest exposure to the food might cause serious, adverse health consequences or death. The health risk is considered high. The Panko Chicken Nuggets items were made on July 18 of this year and are sold at Costco Wholesale stores nationwide, federal food officials say. The products affected are the 5-lb. and 20-lb. bags of the Panko Chicken Nuggets. The 5-lb. bag has a 'best if used by' date of July 18, 2017. The bulk package of 20 lbs. was sent to a single wholesale company in Pennsylvania. For more information got to Tyson website or check with your stores.
