NEWS
--Around 3:20pm Sunday the Morrison County Sheriffs Office received a medical call near the Little Elk River under the Highway 115 Bridge in Randall. According to the Sheriff's Office, 14-year old Cole Kjeldergaard of Cushing was located on land near the river and he was semi-responsive. 12-year old Nicholas Angevine of Randall was also located under the bridge and he was unresponsive. The two boys were pulled up to the roadway where they were tended to by medical personnel. Nicholas Angevine was airlifted by helicopter to Hennepin County Medical Center. His condition was listed as stable. Cole Kjeldergaard was taken by ambulance to St. Gabriel's Hospital. He has since been released. The case is still under investigation.

--Morrison County deputies helped a man in a wheelchair from his bedroom after smoke started to the fill the room last Wednesday. Around 10:15pm deputies responded to Bear Road in Cushing. They were told by the man's wife that he was in the bedroom when phone wires started to smoke. They worked on getting him out before a fire started. No fire started and the room was ventilated when Motley firefighters arrived to assist on the scene. In the past week deputies also responded to theft reports on Grouse Road in Little Falls, Golf Course Circle in Randall and Bear Road in Cushing. Deputies assisted police on a domestic disturbance, investigated an assault on Meadowlark Road in Pierz, a DWI arrest in Pierz and a burglary report on Marble Drive in Cushing.

--There will be another Little Falls Ravine Walk hosted by the Morrison County Historical Society on September 16th. The last ravine tour was held in July and was so well attended that there were requests for another. The ravine walking tour, which is about 5 blocks long, will allow attendees to explore the Little Falls ravine that once ran through the east side of town and has been mostly erased from the landscape. Look for remnants of this landmark while listening to stories of the ravine’s role in the city’s history. The tour starts at 2nd Avenue and 2nd Street Northeast in Little Falls at 10:00am. The cost for the event is $20. To sign up call 632-4007 by September 13th.

--A reminder that the Household Hazardous Waste Facility will close for the season at noon Saturday, September 30th. Residents with household hazardous waste should deliver prior to the closing date. For more information call the landfill at 632-1944.

--A 23-year old Brainerd man faces assault charges from an incident where the male subject first stated he wanted to kill himself then turned a knife on two victims who tried to stop him. Cody Vian was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and other misdemeanor charges of domestic assault to cause fear.

--A 46-year old Aitkin woman faces child punishment charges following an altercation with a 12-year old which led to Kristin Monse allegedly smothering the child with dish soap on her hands. The child reportedly was having difficulty breathing when authorities were called by a witness in the home of the altercation. The altercation was recorded by a witness on a cellphone and was given to police to investigate further. Monse was charged with a gross misdemeanor of child punishment in Crow Wing County District Court.

--Last Wednesday was the deadliest day on Minnesota roadways since the 4th of July holiday weekend. Five people died on roadways including two in the St. Cloud area, 2 others near Apple Valley and one in Bloomington. State Patrol urge motorists to slow down.

--Jasmine Block, the 15-year old Alexandria girl who disappeared nearly a month ago from her home, was found safe on Tuesday, September 5th in rural Grant County. The Alexandria Police Department put out a news release at about 3:30pm Tuesday confirming that Jasmine had been found. She is being treated for minor injuries at the Douglas County Hospital and has been reunited with her family. This case is still under full investigation. Jasmine had been the subject of a massive search by law enforcement officials and volunteers ever since disappearing from her home on August 8th. The search focused on the Central Lakes Trail, where she enjoyed spending time. However, she was found 20 miles away, in Grant County. An ambulance took her to Douglas County Hospital, where she was met by her mother. Neither family members nor authorities released any more details on how she was found, but again she was found safe and returned to her family.

--The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, Brooten fire department and Paynesville police responded to an accident around 7:00am Sunday on County Road 27 and 201 in Northfolk Township near Brooten in Stearns County. 17-year old Jayden Miller of Brooten was driving westbound with 15-year old Dylon Jergenson standing on the rear bumper of the vehicle attempting to hold down a portable goose blind being transported on the roof the vehicle. Two others were inside the vehicle also attempting to hold down the blind thru their open windows. The goose blind caught in the wind and broke free from their grasps, knocking Jergenson off the bumper and onto the pavement, striking his head. Jergenson was transported by helicopter to the Saint Cloud Hospital, and later transported Minneapolis for what was described as a very serious head injury.

INTERNATIONAL NEWS
--The Royal Family in Great Britain announced over the weekend that The Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton is pregnant. This will be the third child of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

NFL= The NFL announced due to Hurricane Irma likely hitting Florida this weekend the game between Miami and Tampa Bay Sunday will not be played in Florida. Options on when and where to be decided.
