One of two men charged with murder in the shooting death of Jamie Wylie was sentenced Friday to slightly more than 33 years in prison. 26-year old Joshua Lee Smith was sentenced Friday morning in Benton County District Court. Prosecutors have said that Smith and co-defendant Travis McKinney were on a methamphetamine binge when Wylie was killed in December 2013. Wylie’s body was found months later in a ditch behind the Honda House east of St. Cloud. The judge sentenced Smith according to terms of a plea agreement in which Smith pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting intentional second-degree murder. Smith, in his previous guilty plea, said that he shot Wylie twice in December 2013 on a county road near Foley. Court records and statements from prosecutors previously indicated that investigators believed McKinney had shot Wylie. McKinney pleaded guilty to aiding an offender and is scheduled to be sentenced October 16th in Benton County District Court.
