This weekend will be one year since word broke about the disappearance and then death of former Sartell resident Tom Bearson. Moorhead Police Department Spokesman Lt. Tory Jacobson said the case remains very active. Bearson, a freshman at North Dakota State University, was reported missing September 20th and his body found days later at a Moorhead RV sales business. While the Moorhead Police Department is unable to release specific information about the investigation, Jacobson said six investigators were sent to the FBI Training Center in West Virginia in July to review the case with professionals from the FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit. The six officers included an FBI agent from Fargo, a Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension agent, two investigators from the Moorhead Police Department and two investigators from the Fargo Police Department. Jacobson said those sent to the training are continuing to use the information provided at the academy to ensure they are pursuing any avenues that can assist in the case. He also said investigators continue to exchange information and items with the Minnesota BCA forensics lab as more information continues to come forward. While investigators continue to search for answers, the Bearson family released a statement Tuesday saying they believe those involved in the disappearance and death of their son will be found. Jacobson said the anniversary of Bearson’s death has been hard for those involved with the case, especially those who keep in touch with Tom’s parents, Greg and Debbie Bearson.
