A rural Paynesville couple has been charged after a fraud investigation found they have stolen more than $250,000 from customers of their insurance agency. Many of the customers were vulnerable due to age and other health issues. 57-year old Michaela “Kim” Kruger and 57-year old Richard Kruger are licensed insurance agents who operate Kruger Insurance Agency out of their home. They convinced numerous clients to invest in a “custodial account” that would offer 3 to 6 percent rate of return, when investigators say no such account existed. The Krugers then personally used the money. Due to the statute of limitations, the Krugers are charged with stealing more than $85,000.
