Princess Kay of the Milky Way will be crowned next week Wednesday night. This year Morgan Uphoff of Melrose representing Stearns County is the closest to home. Other finalists include Kyla Mauk of Howard Lake in Wright County, Kallie Baker, representing Wabasha County, Kylee Fernholz, of Douglas County, Michele Green of Roseau County, Samantha Keller and Maggie Mills both of Goodhue County, Jennifer Oelfke of Sibley County, Ellen Sheehan of Olmsted County, McKinzie Smith of Mower County, Rachel Stender of McLeod County, and Carley Vinkemeier of Carver County. Princess Kay will have her likeness carved in butter on the first day of the state fair. The other 11 finalists will each have one day to have their likeness carved into a butter head. The Minnesta State Fair kicks of then at 6am the next morning August 27th and runs through Labor Day on September 7th east of St. Paul.
