Sgt. Doug Rekstad, an investigator with the Morrison County Sheriff’s Department, was voted in as Motley’s interim police chief until a permanent replacement can be found. Rekstad will be hired for up to four months, giving the city time to find the right person for the job. Rekstad will mentor the one police officer in Motley, Jason Borash, who has only been working in the Department for five months. When a new chief is found, Rekstad will mentor them also.
