A Sartell man is scheduled to appear in court today after being charged with raping, beating and threatening to kill his girlfriend. 22-year old Darnell Albert Lewis is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of felony domestic assault, and terroristic threats. He also pled guilty earlier in September to felony domestic assault involving a separate victim. Witnesses saw a woman fall or get pushed out of a car on September 24th at 15th Street and 33rd Avenue North. The witness said a male driver yelled at the woman to get back in the car. She did, and they drove away. Police later stopped the vehicle and the woman was taken to St. Cloud Hospital. The woman told police that she told Lewis she wanted to end their relationship. Lewis told her she could not leave and he would not allow her to leave his sight. The next day, according to the woman, Lewis consumed alcohol and told the woman to get in the car, punching her several times while he was driving and at one point pushed her out of the car. Lewis then dragged her into a house and sexually assaulted her, threatening her life and at one point stepped on her throat. Lewis has three prior domestic abuse convictions.
