A St. Cloud man is in Stearns County Jail after police say he broke into a home Friday night and demanded money while holding a knife. 47-year old Michael Joseph Gothier was arrested after 8:10pm Friday after officers responded to a reported burglary in progress. Gothier had broken into a residence in the 2000 block of 17th Street South and encountered the residents when they returned home. Authorities say Gothier, holding a butcher knife, demanded cash from a 55-year-old man and woman. He was arrested at a nearby grocery store. He could face charges of aggravated robbery, and a charge of simple robbery from an earlier incident on Friday near the St. Cloud Library
