A St. Joseph man was hospitalized and will be booked into jail upon his release after he fled officers in a stolen pickup early Thursday morning. 27-year old Jeremy Sterzinger crashed into a power pole in a stolen pickup truck after 2:00am. Deputies used a K-9 to find Sterzinger after he ran away. He was transported to Buffalo Alina Hospital for injuries sustained in the collision. The Sheriff’s Office said 31-year-old Brent Morris called shortly after 2:00am to report that his pickup had been stolen by a driver Morris had stopped to assist. Morris told authorities that a white Chevy Impala had gone into the ditch near Minnesota Highway 55 and Wright County Road 35. The driver of the Impala reportedly assaulted Morris and fled in his pickup. Deputies found the pickup speeding near Highway 55 and First Street Northeast in Buffalo, and after the crash and pursuit, located the driver in Buffalo. Sterzinger could be charged with robbery, theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing and driving after revocation.
