On behalf of the Youth As Resources organization, United Way of Crow Wing and Southern Cass Counties is giving out more than $8,000 in grant dollars this winter to youth-led projects in the Brainerd lakes area. Grants are available for projects that put the ideas and energy of young people to work to address important community needs. Projects must be designed and carried out by young people with adults serving as advisers and have a realistic budget with solid plans. Funding priority will be given to projects that build leadership skills, raise self-esteem, strengthen the community and build relationships between youth and adults. Requests can be up to $1,000. Deadline to submit applications is January 18th. Visit www.unitedwaynow.org for additional information, including a grant application and application details.
