The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will begin mailing ballots today to eligible farmers and ranchers across the country for the 2015 FSA County Committee elections. Producers must return ballots to their local FSA offices by December 7th to ensure that their vote is counted. Locally in Morrison County for the LAA3 District which includes townships of Ripley, Platte, Pulaski, Richardson, Belle Prairie, Buh, Granite, Leigh, Little Falls, Agram, and Pierz voters will be selecting a replacement for Don Will who has served the maximum terms allowed for a committee member. Dave Meyer of rural Pierz is running for the position and will be the only name to appear on the ballot. Meyer is a Corn, Soybean, and Alf Alfa producer and raises Gold N Plump broilers. Producers must participate or cooperate in an FSA program to be eligible to vote in the county committee election. Voters who do not receive ballots in the coming week can pick one up at their local FSA office. Newly elected committee members and their alternates will take office Jan. 1, 2016.
