Vernon Barthel of Rice killed at construction site east of Royalton

One person was killed at a construction site east of Royalton High School after being run over by a dump truck Friday around 11:00am. The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office arrived to find that 60-year-old Vernon Barthel of Rice had been backed over by a dump truck driven by 57-year-old Randy Stanoch of Motley. Barthel was airlifted to North Memorial in Robbinsdale where he was pronounced dead. The dump truck involved in the incident is registered to Joe’s Excavating Inc. out of Sartell where both workers were employed. The incident remains under investigation.
