NEWS
--Little Falls City Administrator Jon Radermacher spoke on KLTF yesterday and stated that 11th Street Northeast work resumed yesterday and should be completed in around a month but if the weather cooperates that could be done sooner. They have started the bid part of the large 4th Street project that is scheduled to begin later this spring. Radermacher stated that the State Legislature have moved forward for the City to build the community center with state funding though local city funding will be needed and that is why they are putting it on the November ballot for city residents to vote on a one-half of one percent sales tax for the City of Little Falls. Jon stated there will be meetings, hearing and discussion at meetings throughout the summer before the election in November. --President Joe Biden plans to speak at a memorial service in Minnesota on Sunday for former Vice President Walter Mondale, who died last April at age 93. Biden will travel to Minneapolis for the event at the University of Minnesota. The president has described Mondale as a “dear friend and mentor” and “one of our nation’s most dedicated patriots and public servants.” Other confirmed speakers include Gov. Tim Walz, U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith, and presidential historian Jon Meacham. Admission to the service, which was delayed for a year by the pandemic, is by invitation only, but it will be livestreamed for the general public. It's scheduled to run from 1:30 to 3:00pm.

--An Eden Valley man who court records show is a registered predatory offender is now accused of sexually assaulting a teenage boy. 34-year-old Jessee Kuhns is charged with 3rd degree criminal sexual conduct with a victim between 16-and-17-years-old while being more than three years older than the victim. According to the complaint filed in Stearns County District Court, Kuhns was in a position of power over the 16-year-old boy and used that power to manipulate the boy into agreeing to sex acts with him. The sexual assault allegedly occurred last month at Kuhn's home. The boy told investigators that he didn't know what to do because he didn't want to see Kuhns get mad and that he had seen Kuhns have angry outbursts before. Court records allege after the assault took place, Kuhns told the boy not to say anything because he was already on a "list". Kuhns gave a statement to authorities that he knew the boy is 16-years-old and admitted to the assault.

--Tony Housey from Camp Ripley spoke yesterday on KLTF stated that May should be a standard month of training and convoys going to and from Camp Ripley. They will still be using the railroad tracks on the north end of Little Falls so some delays around the tracks are still expected. They are conducting controlled burns at Camp Ripley which started this week and will continue into May a bit later than previous years due to the colder weather. Housey stated that some members of Camp Ripley will be speaking during Memorial Day Programs again this year and if you are interested from your school or veterans organization to have someone from Camp Ripley speaking reach out to them at their offices north of Little Falls.

--The Morrison County Fair office has announced the dates for the fair this year in Little Falls which will be July 21-23rd. A new event this year will be the 1st Bulls and Barrels Rodeo on that Saturday afternoon and a Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head contest. Grandstand shows and musical acts are being put together and you can get more details by checking out their website at morrisonfair.com.

--The Morrison County Historical Society has hired its new executive director: Mike Worcester. A native of Walker, Minnesota, Mike has lived in Morrison County since 2018. Prior to that he worked at the Cokato Museum & Akerlund Photo Studio in Cokato. Mike has worked with MCHS in the past, serving as a board member as well as an archival consultant helping sort through some of their larger collections. His first day will be May 11th.

--The Lone Eagle Auto Club is getting ready for a busy 2022 of events. This includes 2022 Area Classic Car Cruises beginning in May with stops in Royalton, Harding, Little Falls, Flensburg, Cushing and Sobieski with date starting May 11th and going t through September. They will also being taking part in the Crusin' in 2022 at cities like Brainerd, Verndale, Little Falls, Wadena, Alexandria, Long Prairie, Avon/St. Anna, St. Cloud and Cold Spring ending in late August. The club is also getting ready for their 47th annual Long Eagle Auto Club Auto Show and Swap Meet at the Morrison County Fairgrounds which will take place on Sunday, September 11th from 7am-2pm. --St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Lastrup will be holding their cash raffle on Sunday after the 10:45am Mass in Lastrup. It was reported that there will not be a meal only the raffle which those can attend. Questions contact the church office at 320-468-2111.

--A special thank you to Marnita and Vicki of the Pine Grove Zoo who brought the baby otters Willow (girl) and Brooks (boy) to the KLTF studio yesterday for Party Line. Pictures of Steve, Melanie, Ron and James holding the 6 week old otters can be seen at the Little Falls Radio Facebook page. The otters right now are not getting a lot of outside time due to the weather but will be a big draw later this year at the Pine Grove Zoo. For info on the zoo call 320-616-5595.
