NEWS
--Maintenance employees will be working on the following activities this week installing entrance culvert on CSAH 33, CSAH 47 and County Road 239 along with patching potholes, mowing roadside ditches and painting Stop Ahead symbols. Contracted construction crews will be working on the following activities this week include bridge Replacement work on County Road 220 Northeast of Swanville. Bridge Replacement work on CSAH 1 South of Flensburg.
Ground in sinusoidal pavement markings on various roads around the county. Please use caution around flaggers, work crews, flashing lights and watch for wet paint from Morrison County Public Works.

--Three people were hurt in a single-car crash near Richmond on Wednesday. The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says at about 8:22pm they received a call about a crash at 18052 Red Cedar Road. Sheriff Deputies along with officers from the Cold Spring Police Department responded to the call and discovered a pickup truck in the north ditch. Deputies found three people in the truck complaining of injuries. 18-year-old Gabriel Borgen of St. Augusta and 18-year-old Cecelia Woods of Richmond were treated at the scene by Mayo Ambulance EMTs. 19-year-old Merideth Theis of Cold Spring was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities determined the truck had been going east on Red Cedar Road approaching a curve when it crossed the center line, went off the road, hit a tree, and came to a stop in a wooded area. The Sheriff's Office says alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash and it remains under investigation.

--One person was hurt Saturday night in a crash near Becker. The State Patrol says at about 9pm a pickup towing a trailer with a 4-wheeler on it driven by 41-year-old Matthew Rohlik of Renville was going west 97th Street. Meanwhile, another pickup pulling a boat trailer driven by 43-year-old Bradley Roepke of Mayer was going south on Highway 25. The two pickups crashed in the intersection with one truck rolling and landing on its roof in the ditch. Rohlik was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Roepke and a passenger in his truck, 38-year-old Ashley Roepke were not hurt in the crash.

--An attempted traffic stop turned into a 4 vehicle crash in Becker injuring 3 people, one seriously, on Saturday. The Minnesota State Patrol says at about 6pm a Sherburne County Sheriff's Deputy was trying to stop a stolen Ram pickup truck from St. Cloud on Liberty Lane driven by 21-year-old Bradley Alfred of Montrose. Alfred did not stop for deputies, entered Highway 10 from Liberty Lane, and hit a car that was going east on Highway 10 driven by 36-year-old Christopher Vyskocil of Becker. Vyskocil then crashed with a car going west on Highway 10 driven by 46-year-old Chastity Jacobson of Big Lake. Alfred continued on and went off the road to the right and hit an SUV in a parking lot of a business driven by 39-year-old Daniel Meyer of Des Moines, Iowa. Vyskocil was taken to North Robbinsdale Hospital with life-threatening injuries, Alfred was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Jacobson was hurt but didn't need medical attention, and Meyer was not hurt in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.

--The Little Falls Area of Chamber of Commerce and Tourism invites the public to an Americana event in downtown Little Falls Saturday.

--The Wright County Sheriff's Office reported Monday that 16 year old Derek Sachs who was reported missing last week has been located and is safe. They thank all who helped in finding the teenager.

--According to the Minnesota State Patrol’s crash report, the two teens killed Saturday when a Big Lake police officer was heading south on 25 near Tarrytown Road at around 2:45 when they saw a BMW 535 heading north at a high rate of speed. The officer turned around to make a traffic stop when they came across the wrecked car. It appears the driver, 17-year-old Donovan Gobel, ran off the road to the right and then the car rolled. Gobel was killed, as was his passenger Anthony Krider, also 17. Seventeen-year-old Charles Gabrelcik was rushed to Hennepin County Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. All three were from Elk River.

--Morrison Soil and Water announced that the Cultivating Conservation Field Day is rescheduled for Monday, July 15th starting at 8:30am and going to 2:30pm at Meadowbrook Dairy Farm in Sartell. Morrison, Benton and Stearns Soil & Water Conservation Districts will be hosting speakers and interactive demonstrations on a variety of agricultural topics. RSVP is encouraged so they have enough refreshments and lunch meals for everyone. This is a free event and registration is not required but encouraged for a head count for lunch.

TWINS= Twins need extra innings last night to beat the Chicago White Sox 8-6 in 11 innings with big hits from Larnach, Wallner and Buxton to seal the victory. The Twins and White Sox play game 2 tonight in Chicago, pregame at 6:30pm on Q92 WYRQ.
ALL STAR= the Major League Baseball All Star teams were selected on Sunday and the only Minnesota Twin named is Shortstop Carlos Correa as a reserve on the American League team. There still is a chance some Twins might be named as replacement to others this weekend depending on schedules and injuries. The All Star Game is next Tuesday, July 16th in Texas at the Rangers Stadium.
