--The Morrison County Sheriff's Office responded Monday at 6:44am to a traffic complaint to a vehicle traveling on Highway 10 when deputies spotted the vehicle making a number of traffic violations and stopped the vehicle at Highways 10 and 27. A field sobriety test found the driver to be under the influence of a controlled substance and a search of the vehicle found over a half pound of methamphetamine. 41-year-old Robert Wasche of Frazee was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and DWI. Sheriff Shawn Larsen credits the caller who make the call on the activity of the driver that got the driver off the roadways and also the seizure of drugs from the person. He reminds those to please always call the sheriff's office or local law enforcement on suspicious activity of drivers, residences and they will investigate them.

--A two-vehicle crash on I-94 sent two people to the Sauk Centre hospital. The Minnesota State Patrol reported the crash Tuesday morning at 10:16pm. Officials say a Chevy van and a Ford pickup were both traveling west on I-94 and crashed in the left lane near the Sauk Centre exit. The pickup driver, 67-year-old David Gardner of Cottage Grove, escaped injury while his passenger, 66-year-old Jeska Joan of Roberts, Wisconsin, and the driver of the van, 61-year-old Wade Hicks of Litchfield suffered non- life-threatening injuries.

--Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is out with a legal opinion regarding the new state law on the use of force in schools. Ellison clarified that the changes made do not limit the types of force school resources officers can use to prevent bodily harm or death, but instructs the force must be "reasonable." Ellison says, "The aims of the new amendments to our school-discipline laws are worthy. I issued this opinion upon Education Commissioner Willie Jett’s request because it is important to provide clarity about the amendments’ scope." Ellison made the comments in a press briefing on Tuesday.

--A Becker man was killed and a Becker woman seriously hurt in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 10 Monday afternoon. The incident happened shortly after 1pm at the intersection of Highway 10 and Edgewood Street in Becker. The Minnesota State Patrol says an SUV going west on Highway 10 and a minivan going east on Highway 10 collided in the intersection. A passenger in the van, 91-year-old Lowell Wolff, was taken to St Cloud Hospital where he later died. The driver of the van, 89-year-old Betty Wolff, was also taken to St. Cloud Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The other driver was not hurt. --A man was airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital after being involved in a crash near Alexandria. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says the two-vehicle crash happened just after 10:30am Tuesday on County Road 6. The sheriff says it was determined that 47-year-old Alicia Cirios of Nelson was driving a vehicle that rear-ended a vehicle driven by 76-year-old Lawrence Olson of Osakis. Olson's vehicle was traveling very slowly or stopped in the northbound lane prior to the crash. Olson's vehicle was overturned in the ditch and he could not get out on his own. He was removed and later airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital. Cirios did not require medical attention.

--There is a hot dog, hamburger and corn feed on Friday at the Holy Family Parish of Belle Prairie put on by the Knights of Columbus Council #1804 from 4-7pm. Also this for Alter Server Appreciation Night, proceeds go to help the Knights projects in the council area.

--The Minnesota Fishing Museum is hosting an open house to celebrate their 25th Anniversary from 1-5pm on Friday afternoon. It will be free admission and they will have cake and refreshments.

--Smoking cannabis will soon be prohibited in Brainerd’s parks, but not all residents are on board with the decision. Five people spoke in defense of the substance during the City Council’s meeting Monday. While state officials legalized cannabis beginning August 1st and put certain restrictions on it, like not using it in the presence of minors, they gave local governments the authority to create stricter laws for public spaces, which Brainerd has opted to do. City Council members voted in approval on moving to ban the smoking and vaping of cannabis or hemp-derived products in all public places, which includes sidewalks, trails and streets.

--A Richmond man accused of trying to cleanse a young girl's sins by holding her under the water in a bathtub has been found competent to face the charges. 38-year-old Gregory Burg then pleaded guilty to one of those charges. Burg pleaded guilty to felony domestic assault while two other charges, including the malicious punishment of a child, are expected to be dismissed at sentencing. Court records show Burg told the girl's mother that he was God and repeatedly told the girl that he forgave her sins. The mother began recording Burg as he held the child and repeated the phrase. At one point, Burg brought the girl into the bathroom and then dunked the girl and shook her while holding her underwater. Ultimately, the mother intervened and called the police. Burg has previous convictions involving domestic offenses and also a history of using methamphetamine. He'll be sentenced on October 5th.

--Emma Kuball, a 19-year-old college student from Waterville, Minnesota, representing Rice County, was crowned the 70th Princess Kay of the Milky Way last night at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.
Kuball will serve as the official goodwill ambassador for 1,850 Minnesota dairy farm families. She is the daughter of Nate and Shannon Kuball and attends the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Kuball’s first official duty as Princess Kay will be to sit in a rotating cooler in the Dairy Building (located at the corner of Judson Avenue and Underwood Street) to have her likeness sculpted in a 90-pound block of butter the first two days of the Minnesota State Fair.

--Sister Julien said they received 50 units of blood Tuesday just a bit down from their goal. The next blood drive is October 30th through November 1st and you can sign up already by calling 320-632-0663
