--The 36th Annual Pierz Oktoberfest is this Sunday in Pierz. The parade will be at noon this year and again due to COVID-19 no events in the park after the parade. At the conclusion of the parade Sunday, parade entrants, especially those with collector/classic vehicles & antique tractors, are encouraged to display your vehicle or float on 1st Ave SE (which runs from Main Street to the high school) and in the F&M Bank parking lot. It'll be like a mini-Rock Roll Stroll! If you haven't registered for the parade yet, call F&M Bank now to register. (320) 468-6422. There will be some food (limited supply) to be sold in the parking lot across from Pierz City Hall. All are welcome. The parade will start from the high school and go down both Edward Street and Highway 25 as it has in the past. Take in the parade this Sunday and watch for Little Falls Radio driving through also.

--The latest numbers of COVID-19 cases on Thursday were over twice as many positive from the previous day with 1,158 new cases and another 13 new deaths linked to the virus. There were 16 new cases in Benton, 3 in Crow Wing, 1 in Cass, 3 in Mille Lacs, 2 in Morrison, 21 in Sherburne, 46 in Stearns and 1 in Todd County. Morrison County showed 112 cases of COVID-19 since testing began, and show around 18 new cases in the past 14 days.

--Reminders from the Morrison County Solid Waste Management Facility aka the “Landfill”, that they will be reverting back to “winter” hours for 2020. The Landfill facility is open year-round, however, the Saturday Summer Hours from Memorial Day to Labor Day will be coming to an end, returning to the 8:00 am to noon schedule.The facility hours after Labor Day are weekdays 8am-4:30pm and Saturdays 8am-noon. Persons with questions may call the Morrison County Landfill at 320-632-1944. Another reminder to Residential households in the community that the Household Hazardous Waste Facility located at the Morrison County Solid Waste Management Facility will be closing on Wednesday, September 30th, 2020. Residents with HHW that they would like to dispose of this year, should deliver it to the facility prior to the closing date. To ensure the health and safety of staff and customers, the following will apply: Customers MUST stay in the vehicle during drop-off, You will be asked about your County of residence., One vehicle allowed in the drive-thru at a time, Items should be placed in rear most accessible space (example: near hatchback, in trunk, bed of pickup – close to end-gate). --A coordinated effort has begun to reduce the number of crashes on Highway 15 in Stearns County. "Project 15: This Is You" is designed to promote traffic safety from the intersection of Highway 15 and Highway 10 in Benton County to the southern Stearns County Border south of Kimball. Law enforcement agencies include St. Cloud, Sartell and Sauk Rapids police departments, the Benton and Stearns County Sheriff's Offices, and the Minnesota State Patrol. You should expect to see increased traffic enforcement targeting speeders, red-light runners, and distracted drivers. Organizers hope the project will help remove Stearns County from the top 10 list of deadliest Minnesota counties related to drunk driving crashes. The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says aggressive behavior is especially evident when the road condenses from four lanes to two lanes south of Interstate 94 as drivers speed up to get ahead of the pack. --Wednesday night Governor Tim Walz activated the Minnesota National Guard in response to civil disturbance, at the request of Minneapolis Mayor Frey. “We initiated response immediately,” said Brig. Gen. Shawn Manke, Minnesota National Guard Adjutant General. “It takes a certain amount of time to muster and deploy those forces.” Before midnight, 45 soldiers of the Monticello-based 257th Military Police Company in-processed onto state active duty. Overnight the Guard assisted Minneapolis Police in setting up 15 traffic control points, freeing-up the police for other critical law enforcement missions. Thursday, nearly 100 soldiers are available and supporting missions. Soldiers are assisting local law enforcement to ensure the safety of local residents and preserving property. Another 300 soldiers from the Montevideo-based 1st Battalion, 151st Field Artillery were activated Thursday. A curfew was put in place again last night through early this morning and may continue.

--The 2nd Annual Kruzin' for Bri's Lodge Car Show and Spaghetti Meal will be held Sunday from 11am-4pm at Trobec's Bar and Grill in St. Stephen. Cars, trucks, motorcycles wlecome, spectator attendance is free, the meal is a free will donation and all funds got to building a grief lodge in central Minnestoa. --Royalton Schools announced first day in classes for Grades 6-12 will be September 8th and the first day of elementary students K-5 will be September 9th this year. Pierz School District announced that parents of 6-12 graders, the school has updated their Chromebook policy page and insurance options and need all parents of students entering grades 6-12 to sign it to accept the policies even if you opt out of the insurance. The information can be found on the school website.

--Little Falls Commmunity Schools wanted to thank all of the food service staff that has made 156,800 meals over the summer months which included a number of items twice a week to students.

TWINS= The Twins and Tigers voted not to play last night in solidarity. The Twins and Tigers have a double header scheduled today, game 1 pregame at 11:30am on Q92 WYRQ. Saturday pregame is 4:30pm and Sunday the game is at noon, with Inside Twins starting at 11am on Q92 WYRQ.
CLASS C= Randall vs. Bluffton from Milroy Saturday at 11am winner would play September 5th at 6pm, Buckman vs. Cold Spring at 11am Sunday from Springfield, winner plays next Friday at 7:30pm. Hear the games live Saturday and Sunday on AM960 KLTF.
