NEWS
--Due to the lack of ice and the warmth of this month of December, Chuck Zwilling announced Thursday morning that the 3rd Annual Sunny Zwilling Memorial I.C.E. Fest on Green Prairie Fish Lake we will be moving the date from January 11th and 12th which was the original date to now to February 8th and 9th. If you are an activity, donor in kind, visitor, volunteer or a vendor please contact Chuck Zwilling as soon as you can to make sure you can still make it work on helping out or being part of the I.C.E. Fest. Zwilling said that the ice amounts on the lake were around 6-7 inches and that is just not enough to make it first of all a safe event with the people, and he would be unable to try and break the world record for the ice carousel. If you need to contact Chuck he can be reached at (320) 249-1504.

--A 54-year old Royalton man was sentenced in Morrison County District Court. Robert Harland was sentenced to 45 days in jail on a felony fleeing police charge, and was given a stay of imposition on a gross misdemeanor DWI charge. The original charges stemmed from a June 13 incident, when a Morrison County Sheriff’s deputy observed a vehicle crossing over the fog and center lines near Buckman. When the deputy activated his emergency lights, the driver sped up and did not stop when the squad’s sirens were activated. The vehicle continued to drive south at speeds ranging from 25 to 60 miles per hour. During the pursuit, the vehicle was all over the road and touching each shoulder. The pursuit ended as a deputy attempted a pit maneuver. The driver was ordered out of the vehicle and identified as Meehl, who appeared to be unsteady on his feet, smelled of alcohol and was uttering random words. Meehl was taken to the Morrison County Jail, where a portable breathalyzer test showed he had a blood alcohol content of .172. Another breath test showed Meehl had a blood alcohol content of .15. Meehl’s driving privileges were revoked at the time of the incident. For the felony, he was sentenced to 45 days in jail and was given credit for six days served. He also had a 320 day sentence for the DWI stayed for four years. Meehl was also sentenced to four years of supervised probation and was fined $185.
