--Morrison County Administrator Matt LeBlanc spoke on KLTF yesterday on the two public meetings coming up next week. The first will be on the county auditor/treasurer position on whether to make it an appointed position or to keep it an elected position. Chelsey Robinson won the election in November but this was after she resigned last year and also informed the board that she will not take the position after being the winner in November as the only one on the ballot. LeBlanc stated if the position is appointed it will a majority vote of 4 of 5 Commissioners. If the position is to stay as an elected position the interim auditor/treasurer who took over when Robinson first resigned will remain in that position until the next general election for the position which will not be until 2026. That public hearing is at 6pm Tuesday at the government center. The second will be a couple of meetings to discuss what FEMA is asking to have a flood plan in place. On January 19th a leadership meeting will start that day at 3pm and then will then go into the open house at 5pm in the boardroom to provide information to residents on what changes and what will be provided in the plan for the future of the county. LeBlanc went on to talk about many other things that will be on the agenda in 2023 including the opioid settlement dollars as part of a statewide settlement agreement and Morrison County will receive around 7% of the $300-million dollar settlement for the counties from the state of Minnesota. The 1.6 million dollars to the county which will come in parts over a period of years will be put into 3 buckets of prevention, training and helping of treatment of those in custody. Discussion is to be done on repairs or replacing the public works building that was damaged by fire last year and work on plans and specs on that in the next year.
