--The Charles A. Lindbergh Historic Site and the Morrison County Historical Society (Weyerhauser Museum) have rescheduled their Candlelight Hike and Snowshoe event for tomorrow (Saturday) on the trail between to two sites on the southwest end of Little Falls on Lindbergh Drive South. The event is free of charge from 5-8pm. Volunteers can be used to help set up the candles and luminaries for the event a few hours before it begins on Saturday. If you can help call Melissa at Lindbergh Site at 616-5421.

--A reminder from area law enforcement and firefighters with the recent snowfall they are asking to make sure snow is cleared around fire hydrants, mailboxes and the blue number signs of addresses. The fire hydrants of course are needed by firefighters to make it easier in case a fire arises to be put out. The blue signs are needed from all emergency vehicles to reach houses in case of a medical emergency or an accident that could need assistance and the signs are handy.

--Several fire crews battled a big fire at a golf course near Menahga in Wadena County. The Blueberry Pines Golf Course lodge was fully engulfed in flames on Wednesday afternoon according to the Wadena County Sheriff's Office. Crews from Menahga, Wadena, Verndale, Staples, Akeley, Nevis, Bluffton, and Carsonville battled the fire. More information on the fire will be released in upcoming days. Early indicators lead officials to believe the building to be a complete loss.

--A clothes dryer is the likely cause of a house fire in St. Cloud. Fire crews were called to the home at 206 19 1/2 Avenue North just after noon Tuesday. Extensive flames and smoke caused $60,000 in damage to the home. Nobody was hurt in the fire. The St. Cloud Fire Department is looking for a good Samaritan who helped keep the family warm. A passerby saw the family standing outside their burning home and told them to get in his truck to stay warm. He left the scene before fire officials could get his name. They would like to thank him if you know who he is. The Red Cross is helping the family which has been displaced from their home.

--A Minnesota native and U.S. Marine is dead after being shot while on duty inside his Washington, D.C. barracks. The U.S. Marine Corps released a statement in which they identified the victim of the shooting as 20-year-old Lance Cpl. Riley Kuznia from Karlstad, Minnesota. The U.S. Marine Corps is investigating his death. The department of Defense stated it was an accidental shooting and the wounds were not self inflicted.

--Chuck Zwilling spoke on Little Falls Radio yesterday about the ICE Fest next weekend on January 12th-13th on Green Prairie-Fish Lake. The 2 day event will have a number of festivities like igloo making, skating day and night, curling, biking and more on the frozen lake. The event also raises funds for the Flyer Pride Pack backpacks given to kids in need from the Little Falls Community Schools. Zwilling stated they could use some volunteers to help with parking next weekend and a trolley to get onto the lake. --The Little Falls City Council holds their reorganizational meeting for the year Monday night at 7:30 at City Hall Council Chambers. The Council will swear in the members voted in this past November and then vote on a council president and vice-president.

--A Holdingford man faces one felony charge and one misdemeanor charge on suspicion of attempting to stab a Stearns County deputy on Monday afternoon. 19-year old James Robert Loehrer is charged with one felony count of fifth degree drug possession and a misdemeanor count of dangerous weapons (metal knuckles and a switchblade). Following the alleged assault attempt a search found Loehrer had on him 3.8 grams of a substance that field tested as methamphetamine. He also had a pair of brass knuckles.

--The school wide 2019 National Geographic GeoBee will be held at Upsala Area Schools auditorium on Thursday January 10th beginning at 1:15pm. For the 31st year, the National Geographic Society is holding the National Geographic GeoBee for students in the fourth through eighth grades. Thousands of schools are competing in this year’s contest from all across the United States and the five U.S. territories. Also competing are Department of Defense Dependents Schools around the world. The champion of the Upsala Area Schools’s GeoBee will advance to the next level of competition. Up to 100 of the top test scorers in each state become eligible to compete in their State GeoBee. The winners of the State GeoBees receive an all-expenses-paid trip to National Geographic Society headquarters in Washington, D.C. to participate in the GeoBee national championship which takes place in May and is televised on ESPN.

--A Wisconsin pilot escaped injury when his small plane skidded off an icy runway in Minnesota and flipped over. Police say it happened in Swift County Wednesday afternoon. The 42-year-old pilot from Clear Lake, Wisconsin was attempting to land a Cessna Skyhawk at the Appleton Municipal Airport and slid off the runway. Officials say the pilot tried to take off again, but couldn't regain enough speed and flipped. The plane sustained major damage to its top, wings, and wheels. The pilot is OK and was checked by paramedics at the scene.

--Minnesota's two newest millionaires are both likely from far northern Minnesota. The Minnesota State Lottery says the two lucky Minnesota Millionaire Raffle tickets were sold in Crookston and in Ely.
There were also five $100,000 cash prizes in the drawing, all five of those tickets were sold in the Twin Cities Metro area.
