NEWS
--Around 7:25am Thursday the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a business burglary at Loven’s Auto in Swanville. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the person captured on surveillance broke into the business around 2:45am on Thursday. They gained entrance through a window on the west side of the building. The person is believed to be wearing a light colored mask as well as a light colored shirt which appears to be covering a backpack. Some cash was stolen from the business. There is a video of the incident on the Little Falls Radio facebook page that was shared from the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office Facebook Page. --A line of thunderstorms raced across the state Thursday morning. The thunderstorm warnings issued by the National Weather Service were mostly south of St. Cloud though an area of eastern Stearns, Wright and Sherburne County had to battle strong winds and hail. Rainfall totals in Morrison were around ¾ to 1.5 inches in some areas (around 1 inch at the radio station by 2pm). The rain ended in the state last night, and now the heat is on as temperatures will reach the upper 80s today and into the 90s on Saturday and Sunday with higher humidity causing heat index values to reach 105-110. A reminder to those with problems with heat to stay hydrated and seek shelter if you feel yourself becoming overheated this weekend.

--Three people were hurt in a crash near Rice Wednesday morning. The incident happened around 9:15am on Highway 10 at 105th Street in Watab Township. The Minnesota State Patrol says a car was going west on 105th Street, and a motorcycle was going west on Highway 10. The car turned to go east on Highway 10 and collided with the motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle, 38-year old Benjamin Nelson of Rice, and the driver and passenger in the car, 72-year old Karen Vanslyke of Rice and 72-year old Julie Costa of Rice, were taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

--One person was injured Thursday just before noon on Interstate 94 near Osakis in Todd County. 75-year old William Lehn of Sauk Rapids was on I94 exiting the westbound lane onto Oak Street then attempted to get back on 94 from the eastbound lane and struck a vehicle driven by 75-year old Karen Hustoft of Sauk Centre. Hustoft was taken to Sauk Centre Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

--A St. Cloud man is suspected of sexually assaulting a girl between the ages of 5 and 7, according to a criminal complaint against him. 62-year old Michael Leroy Mills is facing three felony charges of second degree criminal sexual conduct. The 13-year old girl told police she was sexually assaulted by Mills between 2010 and 2013. Mills admitted to an investigator he had touched the girl sexually.

--A busy weekend of events including Swanville Mid Summer Carnival tonight, Saturday and Sunday, parade at 11:30am Sunday in Swanville. Lakes Jam is this weekend in Brainerd at the raceway, Justin Moore tonight, 3 Doors Down and Fuel Saturday night, St. Mathias Church Bazaar, meal, games, country store and raffle all at the church in St. Mathias (near Fort Ripley) on Sunday. There are other fundraiser rummage and garage sales, a brat sale in Randall today by Randall/Cushing Little Elks Lions, a movie in the loft of the Little Falls Library Saturday and more. --An inmate at the Sherburne County Jail was brought to the hospital, and several staffers were also checked out, after an incident on Wednesday. Sheriff Joel Brott says the inmate was brought to the hospital Wednesday afternoon for a medical emergency. Four jail medical personnel, who are contracted clinical staff, were also taken to the hospital after at least one reported tingling in their fingers, raising a concern about a possible exposure of opioids. Jail correctional officers were given the option to been seen by medical professionals, and seven were taken to area hospitals. All staffers checked out fine and were released. The inmate remains hospitalized. The initial screening indicates the inmate was not under the influence of any illegal substances. A search of the inmate's cell did not reveal anything suspicious, and the inmate was in the cell by himself.

--The next Little Falls City Council meeting will be Monday at 7:30 at the City Hall Council Chambers. A work session precedes meeting.

NATIONAL NEWS
--The U.S. Supreme Court ruled 5-4 not to add a controversial citizenship question to the upcoming Census. The Supreme Court also ruled 5-4 in a partisan gerrymandering case, saying they can't decide on a North Carolina issue that's up to lawmakers.

HOK= Hockey Day Minnesota in 2020 will return to Minneapolis. Hockey Day Minnesota began in 2007 as an annual NHL celebration and has grown to include NHL, college, boys and girls high school match-ups. Hockey Day Minnesota was in Bemidji earlier this year and in St. Cloud last year. The three days this coming year feature two girls high school hockey games on Thursday, January 16th; an NHL alumni game on Friday, January 17th; and 2-boys high school games, 1-womens college hockey game and the Minnesota Wild will host the Dallas Stars on Saturday, January 18th. With the exception of the Wild game at the XCEL Energy Center, the other games are all at Parade Stadium in Minneapolis.
