NEWS
--Wreathsforthefallen.org stated that Erik Sogge of the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery reached out to them to help remove the numerous flags from the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery that was used for the Memorial Day holiday weekend. The flag removal will be today (Friday, June 3rd) at 11am and those wishing to help and assist from any age can come and be part of this. When coming to the cemetery please stay to the right when entering and head toward the maintenance building. John Thomas reported they do have guidelines they will follow, the group says the cemetery and others only want to keep flags that are in good condition. Any flags that have a crease, written on, have come loose from the pole, pole split or broken, top of the pole missing, etc. must be set aside for further inspection or repair before storage. If any dirt sticks to the end of the stick, tap it on the side of your shoe to knock off the excess dirt. Pick up 10 flags, Hold them so all flags are hanging down, Roll them up all together to form a bundle of 10 flags, Make sure none of the flags are folded over and all hang down and roll them all up into one bundle. Put the bundle under your armpit and start another bundle. Hold only as many bundles as you physically are comfortable with. Place them in the barrel with the flags up or give the bundles to someone to transport to the storage barrel with the flags up.
40 bundles per barrel for a total of 400 flags per barrel and there should have about 12 barrels to fill. Again this will begin today at 11am at the state cemetery all are welcome.
