--The Minnesota Department of Transportation along with City and County crews are reminding motorists that on Monday a detour was posted around Highway 27 at 4th Street in Little Falls for crews to continue their 4th Street work and Utility work on the highway. The detour around Highway 27 is 11th Street around 5th Avenue to 1st Street Southeast and left back onto 27 at the Traffic Lights. In the past days they have seen many coming down to the road work area and then trying to find a route around it from the road work area. The ask if you need to some to Government Center or items in the road work area please us the detour and the back entryway if need be. They ask motorists who use the detour to watch speeds along 5th Avenue as it is a residential area with many of those walking, biking or kids out in the that area. Law Enforcement also posted no parking in areas around the detour area and there is a stop sign now on Highway 27 to 5th Avenue from the highway that was put up to slow traffic using the detour. They ask again for everyone's cooperation in working around the construction area. The hopes is to have the Highway 27 part of the project reopened by August 4th though the 4th Street Southeast Project will continue until the end of the summer and next year the 4th Street Northeast project will begin in the City of Little Falls. For detour information on Highway 27 you can log on to the website 511mn.org. For city information call 320-616-5500.
