--Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen stated that recently there again has been some drug issues in the county of pure fentanyl that has been dangerous and led to overdoses. Also there has been some heroin laced with fentanyl and pure fentanyl. The Coffee with the Cop event next week will address this and ways to help those battling or having an overdose or who may be on drugs in question to get them help. The coffee with the cop event is May 26th 8:30am-10am at Little Falls City Hall and will also be a prescription drug take back event during the same time. Larsen gave kudos to those who help and assist at the scene including this past Tuesday for an incident with a man trapped south of Hillman from first responders and the DNR who arrived at the scene first. Sheila Watercott from the Stand Up for You Coalition mentioned this past year had many great opportunities to speak on substance abuse from 5th to 12th the facts and messages from students, faculty and speakers on substance abuse in the schools and how to stop and prevent it. Also working together with law enforcement on getting illegal drugs off the streets, help to stop abuse of prescription drugs and alcohol use by minors and of course getting ready for graduation and having a safe and fun grad bash and evening. --The Baxter Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in locating 53-year old Jessie Eue of Baxter who was reported missing by her family Wednesday morning. Eue was last seen at her residence around 8:30pm on the Tuesday evening. She may have left the residence on foot and was possibly wearing a black jacket, black leggings or walking pants and tennis shoes. There is no known direction of travel and no known or suspected destinations. If you have seen or know the whereabouts of Jessie Eue please call 911 or the Baxter Police Department at 218-454-5090.

--St. Cloud fire crews responded to a shed fire Wednesday afternoon. The call came in at around 12:30pm in the 400 block of 19th Avenue North. St. Cloud Fire Chief Matt Love says crews arrived to find a shed fully engulfed and starting to spread to the nearby home. Fire crews worked quickly to extinguish the blaze, resulting in just minimal damage to the home. No one was hurt, but the shed was a total loss. Love says the fire has been ruled accidental, but the cause remains under investigation.

--A convicted felon shot and wounded a 21-year-old woman and her 8-month-old child in an altercation that began Wednesday afternoon inside a crowded restaurant in south Fargo, police said. The suspect later killed himself. The shooting took place at Plaza Azteca Mexican Restaurant shortly after 1:45pm, Fargo Police Chief Dave Zibolski said. The suspect, 24-year-old of Moorhead, Minnesota, continued shooting at the woman when she ran outside while carrying the infant. Police said the suspect knew the victims, who live in Moorhead. The woman is listed in critical condition at a local hospital. Her injuries are not known. The infant suffered gunshot wounds to the left hand and thigh and is listed in stable condition, Zibolski said. The suspect fled the scene in a stolen vehicle. He was later involved in a police pursuit that ended when the vehicle crashed into some trees after driving over stop sticks. Clay County Sheriff Mark Empting said the suspect died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The suspect was convicted of a felony in Minnesota in 2021. A warrant was issued for him last month related to simple assault and domestic violence.

--The Pierz City Council meets Monday night 7pm at Pierz City Hall.

--Today is the final day to get your water tested for nitrates at the Morrison County Government Center from 9am-4pm. Morrison Soil and Water is testing for nitrates in well water. You can still drop off your plastic baggie or glass/plastic container with 1 cup of water to be test for nitrates. Today is the final of the 5 days for the tests.

--Morrison County District 5 Commissioner Greg Blaine announced will seek re-election to the Morrison County Board this November. District 5 includes the townships of Culdrum, Parker, Pike Creek, Swan River, Swanville and Two Rivers. Cities include Bowlus, Elmdale, Flensburg, Sobieski, Swanville and Upsala. Blaine, who currently serves as chairman of the Morrison County Board, was elected in 2018. As a former State Legislator who served three terms in the Minnesota House of Representatives and four years as District 5 Morrison County Commissioner.

--The series of rain showers and storms that hit Central Minnesota last week has dealt additional consequences for area lakes and made for a difficult fishing opener last weekend. High water levels made it difficult for anglers on fishing opener weekend because boat accesses and some boat access parking lots were under water. Though some areas had drier conditions this week there is still trouble that persists this week on many Central Minnesota lakes. Another challenge is the no wake zones in effect for a number of counties which is making getting around a bit slower on the lakes. If you need more information on the lakes and rivers around you check with the local DNR conservation office or with the bait shops in local areas.

--A delivery van drove through a building Wednesday morning. Authorities responded to the 25000 block of 22nd Avenue in St. Cloud just after 10:30am. Assistant Police Chief Jeff Oxton says the driver suffered a medical event prior to striking the building. Oxton says the driver wasn't hurt and no citations were issued. Due to the structural damage to the building, fire crews evacuated the area until the damage could be assessed. Fire officials says the roof is being braced and the damage is being repaired. No one in the building was hurt.

--The Morrison County Garage Sale Days continue today and wrap up on Saturday with many going on in Little Falls, Pierz and other areas.

PLAYOFFS= the softball playoffs begin next week for all area teams.
