NEWS
--A body was discovered shortly after 6pm Thursday during a search for a missing woman in Baxter. Positive identification of the body was not confirmed by Baxter Police. The Baxter Police Department conducted a ground search Thursday on the north end of Cypress Drive in Baxter as part of the investigation into the disappearance of Baxter resident Jessie Eue. Thursday’s search was in the area behind Eue's residence on Golf Course Drive, where she lives with her mother. Eue, 53, went missing from her Baxter home sometime after 8:30pm May 17th. Again a body was found near the residence but Baxter Police has not given positive identification yet.

--Erik Sogge stated Thursday on KLTF that if you bring flowers to the State Veterans Cemetery that fresh flowers can be put on the graves anytime and will be removed when they start to die. Artificial flowers can only be put on graves 10 days before and 10 days after Memorial Day then they must be removed. The grounds will be open through the Memorial Day weekend sunrise to sunset for those to visit. Also the grave finder is available 24/7 to fine the grave of a loved one. Questions can be directed to the cemetery at 320-616-2527.

--Three new candidates entered the race in Morrison County Thursday, making all three seats contested elections. Todd Krajsa filed for the Commissioner District 1 special seat against the incumbent Mike LeMieur. Jeremy J. Pekula has filed for the Commissioner District 3 special seat. He is running against the incumbent Randy H. Winscher and René Krousey filed for Commissioner District 5 seat. She is running against the incumbent Greg Blaine. In addition to the county filings, there are two new files in the state Senate category. For District 2, Leonard Alan Roy joined the race on the DFL side. The second filing was Steve Wenzel of the Republican party, who filed for the District 10 seat.

--The St. Cloud man involved in a five hour stand-off with police earlier this week has been formally charged. 37-year-old Shawn Jacobs has been charged with nine counts of first degree assault, two counts of being a felon in possession of a gun and one count of committing a crime while wearing a bullet proof vest. Jacobs next court appearance is June 20th.

--A 41-year-old man faces three felony charges after he allegedly pointed a handgun at two people Monday night outside a downtown Brainerd bar. The suspect, John Salvatore Sperrazza, was charged Wednesday, with serious felony second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, felony second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and felony threats of violence with reckless disregard. The Brainerd Police Department responded to Shep's On 6th at 11:57pm Monday for a report of an intoxicated male brandishing a firearm. Officers arrived and located a man, identified as Sperrazza, standing between two vehicles, holding a handgun in his right hand pointed towards the ground where he dropped the gun and was arrested.

--A St. Cloud woman charged with felony assault after a dispute with her neighbor has been found incompetent to face the charge. A mental competency evaluation has determined that 48-year-old Jodi Behrman is not fit to aid in her own defense. Officers met with the victim who said she had been having problems with her neighbor Jodi Behrman. The victim said Behrman had repeatedly entered their property, meddled with their vehicles, and had become increasingly aggressive when ordered off the property. Behrman is charged with 2nd degree assault with a dangerous weapon, a non-firearm. That charge is on hold unless Behrman can be restored to competency.

--Monday is Memorial Day. A legal and federal holiday meaning that government agencies on the city, county, state and federal level are closed today. That also includes banks, financial institutions, post offices (no mail delivery), schools and public libraries are closed today. Many businesses may also be closed today in honor of Memorial Day. The Minnesota State Patrol expects heavy traffic flow today and tonight and then again on Monday as many are coming and going to their lake homes, cabins and other places of interest for the long weekend. Please remember that Memorial Day also means a time to remember all soldiers who have given the ultimate sacrifice of their lives for our country to keep us free.

--In honor of Memorial Day, a reminder that there will be Memorial Day programs Sunday at 1:30pm at the State Veteran's Cemetery north of Little Falls, Monday at many towns around Morrison County include the Camp Ripley Chapel at 8:30am (you will need a photo ID to enter camp), Holy Cross in Harding at 10am, Randall VFW at 9:30am then at area cemeteries in Randall and Cushing, Cushing Baptist at 10am, Hillman Legion has a number of cemeteries they plan to go to and so does Royalton Legion to remember the fallen.

--A St. Cloud man is charged with felony assault after trying to stab another man with a knife. 26-year-old Haned Abdufetah Mohamed is charged with 2nd degree assault with a dangerous weapon and threats of violence. A knife complaint was called in Tuesday near the hockey center at St. Cloud State University. Officers arrived to find Mohamed holding a hatchet type knife up at another man. The victim told police he was out walking when Mohamed approached him, got out of his vehicle and started to chase him with the hatchet. The victim ran several blocks to try and get away from Mohamed, but ended up back near the hockey center. Records show Mohamed admitted to grabbing the knife and chasing the victim due to a prior confrontation. His next court appearance is June 8th.

--Graduation ceremonies tonight for Swanville, Upsala, Royalton, Pierz, Pillager, Staples-Motley and Long Prairie-Grey Eagle. Little Falls is Sunday 2pm, doors open at 1pm and no admission to attend.

HS SB= Alexandria beat Little Falls 11-6 then Little Falls beat Sauk Rapids-Rice 11-8 to move to Tuesday against Detroit Lakes. Pequot Lakes beat Pierz 3-1 then Pierz beat Albany 5-3. Upsala won both games and moved on to Tuesday, Holdingford faces Pierz Tuesday.
