NEWS
--The unofficial start of summer begins this weekend with the Memorial Day holiday. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety is asking motorists, boaters and other summer enthusiasts to enjoy the weekend but also be safe. Dont Drink and Drive; Dont Drink and Boat; watch your speeds on the water and roadways, put the cell phone down and stop distracted driving. Expect delays on roadways with heavy congestion to make the weekend as safe as possible.

--Memorial Day is Monday and Federal Holiday meaning that all government agencies (city, county, state and federal) are closed, banks and financial institutions are closed, post offices are closed and no regular mail delivery, many businesses and schools are closed today including the offices at Little Falls Radio Monday. The holiday is a day to remember all who have given the ultimate sacrifice for the United States of America serving in the U.S. Military. Please take time to remember those who have died. A National Moment of Silence for those who have died in battle will be Monday at 3pm local time in whatever time zone you are in to stop for a moment and remember.

--There are Memorial Day events on Monday. Keep in mind the large event at the State Cemetery usually on Sunday was cancelled earlier this year and there will be a virtual events for the state cemeteries on Monday night at 8pm on TPT Channel 2 in the Twin Cities. On Monday- there will be a service at the Camp Ripley Chapel at 8:30am, you will need a photo ID to enter Camp Ripley. A program will be at Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls at 10:30am. Mass in Bowlus at 8am then the Bowlus Legion will go to local cemeteries in Bowlus and Elmdale. Pierz American Legion and Auxiliary will be at St. John's in Lastrup for Mass at 10am, Mass in Flensburg will be at 8:30am then the Legion will go to the Flensburg, Sobieski, Culdrum and Parker Cemeteries. Program Monday is at 9:30am at the Randall VFW, program at Cushing Baptist Church at 10am. Randall VFW will also be at the St. James, Veterans Park and Randall City Cemetery before meeting with members from Cushing at the Union Cemetery at 11am on Memorial Day. Hillman American Legion will be at a number of cemeteries when they leave their post at 8:30am on Memorial Day, they will visit nearly a dozen cemeteries in that area and return to the post at 1:30pm on Memorial Day. Little Falls Radio's AM960 KLTF wil have a local Memorial Day program with speakers and music Monday morning just after 8:30am on KLTF the program can also be streamed online at fallsradio.com.

--Little Falls Firefighters responded to a small brush fire on Tuesday around 3:08pm on Grouse Road northwest of Little Falls. A branch fell on a power line and started a fire below. Minnesota Power removed the branch from the power line. The Minnesota DNR also responded and assisted at the scene. Fire Chief Craig Seelen is reminding those of fire safety if you are planning bonfires and campfires this weekend to make sure to put safety first. With the possibility of thunderstorms, a reminder that lightning can cause power lines and trees to come down so always remember to use caution in storms.

--There are also High School Graduations through the weekend in Morrison County. Royalton, Swanville and Pierz are tonight. Upsala will graduate at 1:30pm Saturday at Upsala High School. Little Falls will graduate the class of 2021 Sunday 2pm at High School Gym.

--Al Poser stated Thursday morning unfortunately they were not able to get a distribution of food event this weekend in Morrison County. There will be events in Grey Eagle, Perham and Twin Cities Sunday.

--Law enforcement seized more than 65 grams of methamphetamine Tuesday morning during a search in Kandiyohi County. According to the news release, the seizure was part of two search warrants executed by the Task Force in the New London, where agents found a total of 2.3 ounces of methamphetamine, a quarter ounce of psilocybin mushrooms and over a quarter ounce of butane hash oil. A rifle and handgun that had been reported stolen from Yellow Medicine County in 2016 were also recovered. The suspect in the case, a 50-year-old New London man, was arrested in Otter Tail County shortly after the search warrants were executed. The case is currently active and under investigation.

--St. Cloud police have released information regarding the car that crashed into a house Wednesday. Assistant Police Chief Jeff Oxton says the driver, 33-year-old Amal Mohamed of St. Cloud, was heading east on 3rd Street when she swerved to avoid another vehicle that had legally entered the intersection. Mohamed then drove over a curb, through a yard and into a house. Police say speed was a factor in the crash. The portion of the home that was struck was not occupied at the time of the crash. Mohamed and her 3-year-old passenger were both taken to St. Cloud Hospital for minor injuries. Police say Mohamed was cited for not having a valid drivers license and careless driving.

--After operating on a by-appointment-only basis since February due to the COVID-19 pandemic and closed prior to that with COVID-19 restrictions, the Charles A. Weyerhaeuser Memorial Museum will be reopening to the public on Thursday, June 3rd for walk-in visitors. Museum hours will be Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 11:00am until 5:00pm through the summer. Wednesdays will be available by appointment for researchers and visitors to the exhibits. Researchers group tours of 10 or more are encouraged to call ahead so staff can prepare for their visit. Following the CDC’s guidance, those who have not yet been fully vaccinated will be required to wear a mask in the museum. Museum staff have all been fully vaccinated.

WILD= Wild at Las Vegas in Game 7 of playoffs tonight. If the Wild would win then Game 1 with Colorado in 2nd round begins on Sunday.
VL= Royalton at Buckman in the Victory League Game of the Week, Sunday afternoon at 1:30pm on AM960 KLTF.

There will be no newsletter on Monday due to the Memorial Day Holiday and Little Falls Radio offices being closed.
