NEWS
--Good luck to the Pierz Pioneer football team as they compete Saturday in the state semi-finals at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. The game is the third game of the day scheduled around 2pm against Rochester Lourdes and can be heard live on FM94 KFML and fallsradio.com. A Pierz win puts them in the Class AAA finals on Saturday, November 24th at 1pm from U.S. Bank Stadium.

--The Little Falls Fire Department has had to respond to a few fuel alarms recently. Carbon monoxide was detected in some of those cases. Little Falls Fire Chief Mike Nieman urges residents to call the fire department when carbon monoxide detectors go off.

--St. Cloud Police are investigating a fatal hit and run car versus pedestrian crash at the intersection of 1st Street North and 5th Avenue. The St. Cloud Police Department says the incident happened around 3:00pm on Wednesday. The pedestrian, 84-year old Mohammed Aga Intale of St. Cloud was walking south on 5th Avenue when the vehicle, traveling west on 1st Street North, hit him. Intale was taken to St. Cloud Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Witnesses at the scene were able to help police identify the vehicle. The car and driver, 20-year old Jerimiah Brown, were found at a home on the 1300 block of 12th Avenue North in St. Cloud. Brown was arrested and is being held at the Stearns County Jail.

--A hole in the wall is the damage Cragun's Resort on Gull Lake has to show after an afternoon fire on Wednesday. Around 2pm, Pillager Fire Department responded to the Shoreline Suites building, where Fire Chief Greg Ringler said employees caught the fire and suppressed it with fire extinguishers until the crews arrived. No employees were in the building when the fire started though. A mechanical issue in the boiler room led to the fire starting inside a wall, Ringler said, but flames did not extend beyond the point of origin, and it didn't take long for the dozen firefighters present to douse the flames. The whole scene was cleared in about three hours and the damage was limited to only the boiler room area.

--Governor Mark Dayton remains hospitalized at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester after having back surgery more than a month ago. Dayton had an initial surgery on October 12th and underwent a second procedure several days later. A spokesman for the governor said he was expected to stay in the hospital for at least the weekend. The 71-year-old governor has been hampered by health problems throughout his two terms in office. He's had three back surgeries, a procedure to repair a torn hip muscle and was treated for prostate cancer last year. Dayton leaves office early next year when the newly elected Governor Tim Walz takes office.

--A food distributor with deep roots in Minnesota has been sold to South Korea's largest food company. The Schwan's Co. is well known for home deliveries made by its gold trucks. The companies released a statement Thursday saying CJ CheilJedang will pay $1.8 billion for an 80 percent stake in Schwan's and gain control of its businesses that serve restaurants, grocery stores and other retailers. The Schwan family will retain 20 percent ownership in the businesses being sold to CJCJ. The family will keep 100 percent ownership of Schwan's Home Service Inc., the home-delivery business that Marvin Schwan began in Marshall in 1952. The companies say Schwan's will keep its name and its Minnesota offices and the Schwan's CEO Dimitrios Smyrnios will continue to lead the company.

--Tim Sumner called Little Falls Radio Thursday and stated they are still in need of volunteers to help with the Community Thanksgiving Meal next Thursday. If you can help please call Tim at 632-2540. Also if you need a ride for the event next Thursday again please call Tim.

--Authorities say alcohol was involved in a crash that left an Onamia man dead Thursday. The Minnesota State Patrol says around 2:30pm 67-year old Douglas Starr was driving west on Highway 27 in Bayview, when he went off the road on a curve. He ended up losing control, crossing 92nd Avenue, struck a tree and rolled. The State Patrol says Starr was not wearing a seatbelt, and they believe alcohol was involved. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

--Waite Park Police want to thank all who helped in the search for a missing 73 year old woman. Gloria Timmer was last seen in the area of 4th Avenue North in Waite Park around 1:00pm but she was found safe around 4:00pm yesterday afternoon.

--The annual Pierz Turkey Trot will take place Thanksgiving Day. Registration opens at 6:45am at the Memorial Athletic Center (MAC) at Pierz Healy High School with the race to start at 7:30am. The preregistration cost is $15 per person until Monday. The price increases $5 for those who register the day of the race. The first 150 registered will be guaranteed a pair of socks. Checks can be made out to Pierz Turkey Trot 5K. The trot is to help Special Olympics in Pierz. More information is available on the Pierz Healy High School website and Facebook page.

--Thanks for all who gave on Give to the Max day yesterday in their 24 hour period they raised just over 21-million dollars.

--Country music star and Co-Host of the long running television show “Hee Haw” Roy Clark died Thursday at the age of 85. Clark's career spanned over 50 years on radio and television.
