NEWS
--Little Falls Community High School holds their homecoming festivities today. It begins at 9am with a pep rally in the gym. Then at 2:00pm it will be the parade with law enforcement, American Legion and Auxiliary, the homecoming royalty, band members and more from the schools. The parade begins at 2:00pm from the Middle School parking lot, goes behind the middle school onto 5th Avenue around the south side of the high school to 9th Street past Lindbergh Elementary onto 1st Avenue SE down to 5th Avenue, which goes behind St. Mary's church and elementary school and back to the high school. The Tailgate Party with Little Falls Radio and participating sponsors will start at 5pm at the middle school parking lot with a piece of pizza and a pop for three dollars. All proceeds go to Flyer Athletics. The game against Zimmerman begins at 7pm at Flyer Field.

--Starting Monday, Minnesota residents can start applying for a REAL ID. The move is prompting the state to shut down their driver's license system Friday to update the program. The update means that all county license Centers (like mentioned this week in Morrison County) won't be able to process any driver's license renewals today. The renewals will be available again starting Monday. The system shut down will only impact driver's licenses. Other services at the License Centers will still be processed including motor vehicle transactions, marriage licenses, birth certificates and passports.

--A Sauk Rapids woman won't have to serve a 10-year prison term if she abides by probation after a Stearns County judge stayed her sentence on conditions she doesn't violate the terms over the next 25 years. Back in May, 27-year old Kayla Derosier pleaded guilty to selling large amounts of methamphetamine to undercover officers. Derosier will be credited for 109 days already served. Court records show undercover officers bought methamphetamine from Derosier and 30-year old Cory Spiegel on several occasions in August and September. Spiegel admitted to being involved with Derosier selling drugs and detailed how she would get one ounce packages of meth and divide it up for sale in smaller quantities. He was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for his role.

--Pine River firefighters responded to a cabin fire Wednesday afternoon on the 3000 block of 44th Street SW in Pine River. The cabin was completely destroyed. There was no one inside the cabin a the time of the fire. No other details were released.

--An extremely busy weekend of events. Habitat for Humanity presents the Fabulous Armadillos tonight in Little Falls, St. James in Randall having the Flood Relief for India fundraiser meal, Kids Day tomorrow 9-11:30am at fairgrounds, Lindbergh Elementary Color Run tomorrow 10:30am at Belle Prairie Park, Minnesota Military Museum is doing an event as part of Remembering Vietnam series from 10:00-12:00pm Saturday morning at the Minnesota Military Museum Library inside the gates of Camp Ripley (you will need a picture ID to enter Camp). There is the Orphan Train Reunion going on Saturday at the St. Francis Convent, Cheers to Morrison County begins at the Camp Ripley Hangar Saturday at 2:00pm by Morrison County Area Foundation. Grace United Methodist Church of St. Cloud is having a church bazaar Saturday. Then on Monday the Pierz American Legion Auxiliary is hosting their pillow cleaning fundraiser at the Red Rooster parking lot in Genola. --The VA Clinic in Brainerd has added new services as the result of a recent physical expansion. The physical expansion provided the space to develop full service, on-site audiology and optometry services that were previously available on a limited basis or at the Medical Center in St. Cloud. The enlarged clinic provides additional space to serve the growing number of Veterans seeking care at the Brainerd VA Clinic. The expansion added 3,900 square feet to the clinic, increasing gross square footage to just over 20,000 square feet. To use VA health care, Veterans must first apply for enrollment. To apply, Veterans should contact a County Veteran Service Officer or apply online at www.vets.gov.

--A fire caused roughly $80,000 in damages early Thursday morning. The home in the 1400 block of 29th Avenue North in St. Cloud had an attached garage on fire when firefighters arrived. The blaze did extend into the home and did some damage but the home was still livable. Two vehicles in the garage were destroyed. It's believed an improperly discarded cigarette caused the blaze.

--Motorists may be wondering about the stakes and small piles of mulch that popped up recently along the new four-lane stretch of Highway 371 between Nisswa and Jenkins. It's all part of a follow-up landscape plan to plant trees and shrubs by Mn DOT.

--Homecoming coronations are this weekend for Royalton, Upsala and Swanville schools. Upsala will hold coronation on Sunday at 2pm at the high school auditorium. Royalton will host coronation Sunday at 6pm at the high school auditorium. Swanville will have theirs Sunday night at 7pm at their high school auditorium. Pierz will have their coronation for homecoming Monday at 2:45pm.

--Little Falls City Council meets Monday 7:30pm at City Hall.

NFL= The Los Angeles Rams defeated The Minnesota Vikings last night in LA 38-31 on Thursday Night Football. Ram's QB Goff had 4 touchdown passes before halftime. Kirk Cousins countered with three TD passes of his own but the Vikings defense made some critical mistakes leading to the Rams going 4-0. The Vikings fall to 1-2-1. The Vikings are off until October 7th when they are at the Eagles.
TWINS= Twins catcher Willians Austudillo drives in 4 runs as Twins beat Detroit 9-3 last night. The Twins finish the regular season this weekend with 4 games in 3 days against the Chicago White Sox. Split double-header today 12:30pm and again at 6:30pm, then Saturday the pregame is at 5:30pm and Sunday at 1:30pm on Q92 WYRQ.
