NEWS
--One person was killed Thursday morning at 10:05 on Highway 25 at Highway 2 in Daggett Brook Township of Crow Wing County. A Freightliner pulling a camper driven by 49-year-old Clayton Francis of Big Lake was on 25 when a vehicle pulled out in front of it off of Highway 2 and they collided. The other driver has been identified as 17-year-old Cayden Lee Eagle of Isle who was not wearing a seatbelt and was dead at the scene of the accident. No others were injured.

--Little Falls Radio has learned a 49-year-old Hillman has died from a tragic work accident in Mastodon Township, Michigan earlier this week. Neil Patrick Boser died from injuries in the work accident.

--Five people were injured according to the state patrol Wednesday afternoon in Cass County when the driver was texting and driving and collided with a semi truck that was slowing down for another accident Highway 200 in Turtle Lake Township. Around 4:38pm, the semi-driver 45-year-old Michael Larsen of Randall slowed down for traffic due to another accident and was struck from behind by 25-year-old Catherine Bruce of Walker. Bruce and her 4 passengers, age 55, 31, 6 and 2 years old were treated mainly at the scene with one passenger taken to a nearby hospital. Bruce was cited by the state patrol for texting and driving at the time of the accident.

--The Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly shooting north of Princeton. Just before 6:30pm, Sunday deputies were called to 10126 55th Street in Princeton Township on a report of a person who had been shot. Deputies arrived and began first aid and attempted life-saving efforts on a man who had a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene and he has been identified as 36-year-old Jordon Kelley of Princeton. The investigation into this shooting is open and active and more details will be released at a later date once the investigation is completed.

--The Department of Natural Resources stated on Tuesday of this week that the state still shows drought conditions even with the heavy rains in areas last weekend. Morrison, Todd, Benton, Stearns and other counties are no longer in the extreme drought conditions but still are in the severe stage as of this week's report showing most of the central Minnesota is 6-7 inches below average that was before yesterday's rains of 1+ inches in spots but still 38 percent of the state mostly in northern Minnesota are still in extreme drought. The DNR said that burning restrictions and some city lawn watering bans, like Little Falls and Pierz will likely stay in place into next month. They also stated that since August 16th the DNR has dealt with a larger number of bear spottings in Morrison, Todd, Douglas, Cass, Crow Wing and Aitkin County. The DNR stated that bear are preparing for winter and will be looking for any leftovers and campfire debris so make sure to clean up this weekend after outdoor events and also best to take in bird feeders if they are closer to the ground for bear to check out. The latest reports from the DNR are available on their website including latest on burning restrictions.

--The Minnesota State Patrol reminds motorists to expect delays this weekend on roadways as many will be heading out of the holiday weekend and other events so and please slow down as speed enforcement and DWI enforcement are in force this weekend.

--Events this weekend include Holy Cross Church Bazaar Sunday in Harding with the large chicken dinner, bingo, kids games, entertainment all day and raffle at 7pm in Harding. Next weekend is the large event in Little Falls with Arts and Crafts and other items.

--Michelle Litke is the new Principal/administrator of Holy Trinity School in Pierz after Debra Meyer-Myrum retired earlier this summer. Litke stated on Little Falls Radio yesterday that Holy Trinity is celebrating it's 30th anniversary in Pierz since merging the elementary schools of Pierz, Buckman, Lastrup and Harding into one school. They have done a lot of updating in the building removing tiling upstairs and having the logo in their entryway, the lockers on the first floor were removed and replaced and also worked on the windows around the building and remodeled a few of the classrooms including growing their kindergarten classroom. They will be updating their technology for students and also keep the dates Litke said are the school marathon on September 24th, and the Patriotic Rosary will be in the church at 12:45pm on September 10th in Pierz. --The Brainerd Riverfront Committee invites the public to help clean up the Mississippi River. A cleanup crew is requested to meet at the future Mississippi Landing Trailhead Park location at 2:45pm on Wednesday. Anybody with access to a pickup and/or trailer to help haul debris away, is welcome to attend. With the community’s help, cleanup efforts could be met entirely. Artifacts that are in and near the river include cribs, bridge pilings from 1875, and iron pipes. The river has been largely untouched, unused, and unseen since the end of the logging and steamboat eras. There will be a historian on hand to help if artifacts are found to verify them. It was reported that with the recent rains, if the water levels rise, the cleanup maybe called off. Go to Brainerd Riverfront’s Facebook page for updates.

--Monday is Labor Day a federal holiday for the American worker. Federal, State, County and City offices are closed Monday for Labor Day, there is no regular mail delivery, banks, libraries, schools and many offices are also closed on Monday for the Labor Day holiday.

COL FB= Ohio State beat Gophers in opener 45-31 last night.
TWINS= Twins are at Tampa Bay tonight with pregame at 5:30pm, Saturday at 2:30pm and Sunday at 11:30am all live on Q92 WYRQ. Twins are then in Cleveland on Labor Day at 4:30pm on Q92 WYRQ.
