NEWS
–The Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force executed a search warrant Thursday in the 900 block of Lilac Lane in Little Falls. Investigators received complaints from concerned citizens advising they believed narcotics were being used and distributed from this address. Investigators started an investigation and ultimately a search warrant for the address was drafted and signed by a judge. Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force executed the search warrant with the assistance of the Morrison County SWAT Team. Upon entry, investigators located the tenants 32-year old Aaron Jonathon Gaffke and 23-year old Megan Ann Smith, both from Little Falls. Investigators searched the residence and located a small amount of suspected methamphetamine and heroin. Investigators also located in proximity to the drugs a loaded handgun and a semi-automatic rifle. Gaffke was transported to the Morrison County Jail on 5th Degree Possession of Controlled Substance charges.

--The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a 2005 Sierra 40 ft. bumper hitch camper. There was damage to front of the camper with a noticeable yellow fiberglass repair. The camper was taken sometime Wednesday night from a property located four miles southwest of Randall, in Parker township. Anyone with information regarding this theft is asked to call the Morrison County Sheriffs Office at 320-632-9233.

--Little Falls Schools Superintendent Stephen Jones stated Thursday on Little Falls Radio that the school year is ready to begin in Little Falls. This past week, students have received mailings, emails, Facebook messages, curbside open houses, meet the teachers but in a whole different approach from years past. Students on Tuesday will have to go through a screening procedure with a camera that can tell your body temperature and if it is too high, the school will have to go into a procedure that may not let that student attend class. Jones stated if you have symptoms and or your child has flu-like symptoms, fever and vomitting do not send them to school please. Masks, face guards must be worn in school by all entering, if you need an exception you must contact the school, if your students forgets or does not have one they will be provided one. They ask if you are dropping off students at schools to plan no earlier than 7:45am so that they do not have issues with the buses and other dropping off students all at once, also they as prohibiting long congregating in the hallways and in the building due to safety guidelines. Lunches will be different as they will be given pre-made and for some pre-portioned already meals to avoid contact, one hot and one cold lunch items for middle and high school students, students can bring their own lunches but again no sharing of food items will be prohibited. Jones wants to thank the community for their help, tolerance and assistance to get ready for the school year which begins Tuesday for all elementary students along with grades 6 and 9, the rest of the students return to class on Wednesday next week.

--The Thursday report from the Minnesota Department of Health showed 1,047 new cases of COVID-19 in Minnesota with 7 new deaths linked to the virus. 58 new cases were in Stearns County on Thursday. There were 3 new cases in Morrison County moving the total number of cases to 124. There were 20 cases in the past 14 days of data on the website.

--Cash raffles this weekend, one in Harding Sunday at 5pm and another at St. Mary's in Little Falls on Sunday live streamed.

--Monday is Labor Day. A federal holiday on the first Monday of September. Federal, State, County and City Offices are closed on Monday for the holiday, also no regular mail delivery on Monday. Some parcel companies announced that 1-day and special delivery items will be out Monday and many garbage pick up sites will also be going on Monday so best to check ahead if that affects you. A number of businesses are likely to be closed on Monday, others take more days off for the long weekend, so call ahead before heading out and expect heavy traffic flow on the roadways especially today.

--28-year old Aaron Matthew Holloway of Bowlus was charged with a felony for fleeing a police officer and felony fifth degree controlled substance abuse in Morrison County District Court. The charges stem from an August 22nd incident, when an officer a made a traffic stop after noting a driver was not wearing his seat belt and had an illegal tint on the window. After the officer activated the emergency lights, the driver allegedly led the officer on a long pursuit. The driver allegedly ignored several controlled intersections and was able to evade spike strips placed on the road by officers ahead of the scene. Eventually the officer was able to direct the vehicle, which ended up in a ditch where the driver allegedly exited and began to run on foot. The officer then pulled his firearm and the driver followed verbal commands to surrender. After identifying Holloway as the driver, officers allegedly found a substance that field-tested positive as 2.1 grams of methamphetamine and also located $3,089 in cash. If convicted, Holloway could face up to five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine. Holloway, was convicted of felony fifth degree drug possession in Morrison County District Court earlier last month from an incident with a Minnesota State Trooper on September 22, 2019.

--Holdingford Elementary has been validated as a Minnesota School of Excellence . The Minnesota Elementary School Principals’ Association says Holdingford, which serves over 580 students in grades pre-K through 6, was selected for the honor because of the school’s “commitment to modern teaching and learning.” Over 200 schools have earned Minnesota School of Excellence validation since the program began in 1986.

TWINS= Twins have a double-header today with Detroit, first game with Twins as home team at 12:30pm second game with Detroit as home team to follow, then Saturday the pregame is at 5:30pm, Sunday the pregame at 12:30pm and Monday the pregame is also beginning at 12:30pm with the Tigers for a 5 game series. HS= This would have been the opening night for many high school football games but that is not the case this year, back on August 4th football and volleyball were moved to the spring of 2021.

Due to Labor Day on Monday, the Little Falls Radio offices will be closed and therefore there will be no newsletter delivered on Monday. It will be back Tuesday morning.
