--Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen was on KLTF Friday and spoke on many topics. Drugs have been a major problem and recently in central Minnesota and arrests in Morrison County for fentynyl which is a lethal drug even in a very small portion. This is why Coffee with the Cop events are so important to educate the community, parents, younger people, neighbors, friends to see the sign of drug abuse and the signs of if a drug selling system is in your area. Sheriff Larsen said the summer has been very busy with accidents, speed, DWI's, distracted and reckless driving. Again the first thing is to please remember driving habits, when there are trains, road construction, weekend items expect delays, congestion and slowdowns. ATV riders need to know the surroundings, watch their speeds, children should wear safety equipment, make sure they have been taught riding rules and respect the area. This year already there have been too many fatal incidents from young children to the elderly and many if not most of these accidents could have been avoided. Larsen said the burglaries have been upticked in previous months and reminds those if you have surveillance, trail cams, security systems with cameras, if you see something suspicious call it in and if you have been in an area with burglaries but might be best to look at getting some sort of security to avoid another burglary. Communication works best and you can reach Shawn at the sheriff's office at 320-632-9233 or by his email shawnl.morrison.co.us. Sheriff Larsen reminds the county to work together with law enforcement and we can do all possible to see this a safer community together.
