--Morrison County is offering the public the opportunity to purchase a paver at the Fallen Officer Memorial near the historic courthouse in Little Falls. This memorial is in honor of fallen officers who have given the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Morrison County Sheriff John Stack and Chief Deputy Andrew Herlitz were shot and killed in the line of duty after responding to a dispute in Morrison County on October 15, 1965. Their names have been added to this monument. The memorial dedication was held on October 15, 2020. There is room for 28 additional pavers to be added to the current memorial. As of Friday there were only have 15 pavers left to sell. Please fill out their form and return with your payment to secure your spot as soon as possible. These pavers are located on each side of the monument and can be purchased and personalized, showing your support for the law enforcement memorial. --Authorities are asking for the public's help after a drive-by shooting sent two teens to the hospital Friday night. The St. Cloud Police Department says officers responded to reports of a shooting near the Reach Up Park in the 1100 block of 9th Avenue Southeast shortly after 8pm. Police say two 17-year-old boys each sustained one gunshot wound and were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Reports say they are both in stable condition. Authorities say a person inside the suspect vehicle, described as a white sedan, fired multiple shots while driving north past the park along 10th Avenue Southeast and then fled the scene. Police say at this point a motive behind the shooting has not been determined and the incident remains under investigation. Police also investigated possible shots fire close to the same area around 2am Saturday morning but no word if anything was found, no injuries were reported there.

--One person was injured Saturday morning at 10:19 on Highway 210 in Oak Lawn Township of Crow Wing County. 79-year-old Stephen Hadash of Brainerd was on Highway 210 when it attempted a U-turn and struck a vehicle driven by Erik Kehl of Bigfork. Both drivers were not injured. One passenger, 74-year-old Kathalyn Hadash of Brainerd was treated at the Brainerd hospital for injuries.

--A 22-year-old from Coon Rapids was injured Friday at 2:04 on Highway 169 in Onamia Township when the Lexus they were driving left the roadway and crashed into a steel beam holding a billboard. Blake Johnson was taken to North Memorial in Robbinsdale with serious but considered non-life threatening injuries.

--The FBI has issued an alert concerning an Illinois murder suspect who may be in Minnesota. Federal officials say 22-year-old Devontay Anderson is wanted for the murder of a young child and investigators have information indicating he may be in Minnesota or Wisconsin. An arrest warrant has been issued charging him with first-degree murder and unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. Anderson, who also goes by Vontay or Moneybag, is accused of being involved in the shooting death of a seven-year-old girl in Chicago. He reportedly has a number of acquaintances in Wisconsin and also knows others in Minneapolis. Anderson is described as black, about 5 foot 5 or 5 foot 6, 150 to 160 pounds, with brown eyes and a small tattoo of capital letters written in script over his right eyebrow. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to his arrest and conviction. The alert also stresses that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

--Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin has been sentenced to 22 and a half years for the murder of George Floyd. The sentence came exactly thirteen months after the death of Floyd. Judge Peter Cahill considered the prosecutors’ request for 30 years, several aggravating factors, and the defense request for a lesser sentence as low as probation, before making his decision. He also read and listened to victim impact statements from family and loved ones, and reviewed the presentence investigation. Cahill said there is a 22-page legal analysis attached to his sentencing order, so his verbal comments were brief. The sentence is a 10-year upward departure from the presumptive sentence of 12.5 years under Minnesota guidelines. Prosecutors had asked for 30 years, and the defense was seeking a lesser sentence or even only probation. The court battle is not over as federal charges and civil charges have also been filed against Chauvin and have yet to be see court dates yet.

--More road constructions begins today in central Minnesota with large projects being worked on in Stearns and Benton County and the surrounding areas. In St. Cloud alone County Road 136 will be closed from 22nd Street South to 33rd Street South. The section in front of Oak Hill Elementary will become a 30-mph zone, with a 45-mph zone south of the school out to 33rd Street South. The project will also include sidewalks and bike lanes near the school and wider shoulders with bike lanes in the rural section. Detours will be posted. There are 3 other road projects in the St. Cloud area. The Highway 23 project east of St. Cloud through Benton Foley and east to Milaca continues. Morrison County crews continue to work on projects in all portions of the county, Little Falls city crews continue work on road projects watch for signs and the State Highway 115 pass Camp Ripley is scheduled to begin after the 4th of July holiday, watch for detours.

--Minnesota GovernorTim Walz told reporters Friday that he will cease his peacetime emergency executive powers on August 1. He first declared an emergency in March 2020 as the coronavirus pandemic began spreading through Minnesota.

--The Cass County Sheriff’s Office has completed it’s investigation into human remains found earlier this month. 62-year old David Rickbeil of Ham Lake, Minnesota, was identified as the individual whose remains were found on June 7th by a survey crew in a heavily wooded area of Blind Lake Township in rural Cass County. Rickbeil was reported missing back in 2018 when his vehicle was found in a wooded area of rural Cass County. The Cass County Sheriff's Office had ruled out any foul play in the death from their investigation.
