NEWS
--Erik Saagi of the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery is reminding those that there will be no large public gathering this year on Memorial Day weekend. The decision was made before recent restrictions were allow to ease this month. Saagi stated that the 2022 program is expected to be held next year. The State Cemetery north of Little Falls will be open 24/7 that weekend for those to come and view the graves but unfortunately by state guidelines the committal hall will not open for the weekend only during their regular business hours for those wishing to find graves at the site or visit the paintings of service branches done by Charles Kapsner. Saagi mentioned that floral arrangements, if live flowers they can be placed on graves anytime during Memorial Day but artificial and potted plants are asked to only be placed by they graves 10 days before to 10 days after Memorial Day and removed as with 8,000 graves at the site now the upkeep would be too demanding. Saagi stated that there will be a virtual event on TPT Public Television in the Twin Cities with state and military leaders speaking on Memorial Day at 8pm on May 31st. Little Falls Radio has reached out to the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Camp Ripley, local artist Charles Kapsner and others to create a Memorial Day program to air on AM960 KLTF live on Monday, May 31st at 8:30am with music and then a program at 9am from the studio to honor our fallen heroes so for those unable to attend a Memorial Day program, you can listen to this program that morning on AM960 and online at fallsradio.com.

--Next Monday is Memorial Day and if your church or Veterans organization is having a service, program or cemetery visit please let the radio station know and we can announce it this weekend for those to remember what the real reason for Memorial Day is about. --An Avon man had to be airlifted to the hospital after hot oil burned his arms and back Tuesday. The Stearns County Sheriff's Office and other emergency responders were called to the Landing bar and restaurant north of Avon at around 7:45pm. 21-year old Peter Hagemann was working at the restaurant when the accident happened. Sheriff's officials say Hagemann was trying to relieve pressure on a commercial piece of kitchen equipment when it spilled cooking oil on him.

--A St. Cloud man who led authorities on a foot chase through a southeast St. Cloud neighborhood prompted area schools and the Target East store to implement security measures Friday morning. St. Cloud Police were called to the 400 block of 2nd Street Southeast at around 11:30 a.m. for a dispute between a man and a woman. Officers arrived and learned some property had been damaged and the man had fled on foot. Police were following the suspect when he allegedly pulled out a hatchet and threatened officers with it. They ultimately contained him in the alley of the 500 block of 5th Avenue Southeast and arrested him. Police say 25-year-old Malique Isiah Shaqur Hanson was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for medical clearance and then will be brought to the Benton County Jail for booking. He's facing charges of 2nd-degree assault, threats of violence, fleeing police on foot, and felony property damage. No one was hurt in the incident, but in addition to the nearby schools and Target security measures, police also briefly blocked off some roads in the area for public safety purposes.

--This weekend is Memorial Day but events for the 4th of July are returning this year after missing last year due to pandemic restrictions. The City of Randall announced they will have a 1 day celebration on Saturday, July 3rd, currently the parade will be at 11am before the Randall/Sobieski baseball game heard live on AM960 KLTF with other events including a street dance that evening. Hillman announced the return of their 4th of July celebration on Sunday, July 4th at 11am with their parade Bowlus Fun Day is July 4th the first Sunday in July this year and they plan on having a polka mass, parade and other returning items on July 4th in Bowlus. The Brainerd Community Action group announced that the Brainerd city 4th of July parade will be later than previous years with a 6pm start time to move more smoothly into the live music and fireworks at the football field at Brainerd High School. Other summer events are starting to come together also include Swanville Midsummer Carnival will be July 9th through 11th, Platte River Day in Royalton July 31st, Upsala Hertiage Days in August and Pierz Oktoberfest at the end of the August. The Charm Bike Ride will be going again this year, music events at LeBourget Park in June, July and August, car shows throughout the area all summer long, including four Rock Roll and Strolls in Pierz with first one on Thursday June 3rd from 5-8pm. There will also be charmed bike rides, running events at a number of events this summer and concerts returning including Pierz Freedom Fest on July 10th, Lakes Jams 2021 will be in Brainerd/Baxter June 24th through 26th and County Fairs return also this year including Morrison County Fair July 29th through 31st.

TWINS= Twins rout the Indians 10-0 on Friday. Indians walk off the Twins Saturday winning 5-3 in 10 innings. Twins win their first extra inning game of the season with a 3 run homer by Kyle Garlick in 10th to beat the Indians 8-5. Baltimore at Twins tonight 6pm Q92 WYRQ.
NHL= Las Vegas shut out Wild 4-0 on Saturday. Las Vegas now leads the series 3-1 and could wrap it up with a win tonight in Vegas.
HS BAB= Pierz at Little Falls today at 5pm on AM960 KLTF again with 5pm starts, news will be at 4:30pm today on KLTF.
