NEWS
--Randall Mayor Dan Noss announced yesterday on KLTF first in Randall they have there garage sale days next week May 5th through the 7th and a Clean Up on May 8th from 8-10am at the parking lot near the fire hall. There will be no treasure day this year as Noss said the city felt it was not going as well as in the past. Randall is planning on 4th of July festivities with some on the 3rd and some on the 4th stay tuned for more details. Noss is also with the Morrison County and Todd County Chapters of the Disabled American Veterans and was glad to announce that beginning Friday May 7th the DAV will allow dropping off of clothing from 9am-12pm at the site of 609 4th Avenue Northeast in Little Falls with hopes of continuing this throughout the late spring and summer months. The DAV is also doing a motorcycle and classic car ride for a fundraiser on July 17th. Noss also is with the Minnesota Fishing Museum which announced they will be reopening on Friday May 14th for the season, the museum had been closed for over a year due to COVID-19 protocols. --Law enforcement officials from several agencies assisted the Cass County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday, April 27, with a search warrant at a residence in Baxter. Authorities believed a 21-year old suspect, who is wanted for an assault with a dangerous weapon in Cass County, was at the Baxter townhouse. Authorities set up a perimeter around the townhouse on the 15000 block of Grand Oaks Drive in Baxter. The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Team along with the Baxter and Nisswa police departments, Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office Drone Team and Brainerd Fire Department assisted Cass County at the scene. Emergency vehicles were lined up along Grand Oaks Drive as the Tactical Team, with its armored vehicle, sat outside the townhouse. Some of the residents in the surrounding townhomes stood outside to see what was going on. Authorities were on scene from about 6:30 p.m. until 7:45pm, when authorities learned the suspect was not at the residence. The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office reported there is no reason to believe that the public is in danger. The case continues to be under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

--St. Cloud police are investigating an armed robbery of a jewelry counter inside Crossroads Center. Officers were called to the JC Penney store at about 3:15pm on Monday after a man had walked up to the jewelry counter, displayed a handgun to the woman working, threatened her, and demanded jewelry. He took an undisclosed amount of jewelry and left the store. The worker was not hurt.

--The Long Prairie City Council this week has approved the hiring of Sgt. Duane Breiter as the new Long Prairie Chief of Police. Breiter, who is a 20-plus year veteran of the Long Prairie Police Department, was one of several candidates both internal and external.

--Pierz Schools Superintendent George Weber is inviting all this Friday for the Pierz Music Department presenting the 4th Annual Night of Jazz Fundraiser. The event will include 50/50 raffles, games, and more. Bring your lawn chairs and come listen to their students perform in the MAC parking lot at 6:30PM. $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets are available by contacting the high school 468-6458 or through the school's Facebook page.

--The Little Falls Senior Center for the first time in over a year will have their first Sunday of the month breakfast this weekend from 8am-12pm on Sunday at Senior Center in Little Falls.

--A Brainerd man who pleaded guilty for his role in the burning of a Minneapolis Police precinct has been sentenced in federal court. 23-year old Dylan Robinson was sentenced to four years in prison and must pay $12-million in restitution. Robinson will also be on two years of supervised release following his prison term. The U.S. Attorney's Office says Robinson pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit arson in December. According to court documents, Robinson was outside the Third Precinct on the night of May 28th, 2020. When the crowd starting yelling to burn it down, the unruly crowd tore down the fence. Robinson and an unidentified co-conspirator breached the fence and entered the building. Robinson then lit an object on fire being held by the co-conspirator, who authorities say threw it at the building.

--The Little Falls Police Department responded April 20th to a shoplifting complaint at a local liquor store, a number of suspicious activity complaints at area parks, residences and attractions, trespassing, garbage and burning complaints were also called in in the past week to the Little Falls Police Department.

--Yesterday April 28th was Worker Memorial Day, a day to bring attention to workplace safety and remember workers who have died on the job, Governor Tim Walz is pushing for additional measures to ensure all Minnesotans have a safe and healthy work environment. Governor Walz has proposed additional funding for the Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MNOSHA) to be able to hire additional safety inspectors. He is also pushing for changes to state law that would make OSHA citation data public and increased MNOSHA penalties to conform to federal requirements.

--A reminder that Career Force has their Job Fair today from 1-4pm in the old Crestliner Boats parking lot on the north end of Little Falls.

SPORTS
LF= Little Falls Community Schools announced this week that Joey Hanowski has been named their new head boys hockey coach. Coach Hanowski is an LFCHS 2012 graduate and played in prior state boys hockey tournaments. He replaced Tony Couture who retired after 28 seasons as the boys hockey coach taking them to the state tournament semi-finals back in March. The school announced announced this week that Sara Underhill has been named as the new head girls swimming and diving coach. Underhill's coaching experience includes three years as assistant swim coach at the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul and swim coach in Milaca.
TWINS= Byron Buxton had 5 hits, Mitch Garver 2 homers as the Twins beat Cleveland 10-2 on Wednedsay to take one of the three games in the series. The Twins are off today, host KC Friday.
NFL= The Vikings pick #14 in the first round tonight of the NFL Draft, many sports figures are saying the Vikings could trade up in the draft. Jacksonville gets the first pick in the draft tonight.
