--The Royalton Lions will host their annual senior dinner on Palm Sunday at the Royalton Legion. The event is open to all Royalton area senior citizens and everything is provided by the Lions Club. Social at 11am with meal at noon. The Lions are also delivering within the city of Royalton to those who want a meal delivered on Sunday and there will also be take out. Call 320-584-5135 on Sunday from 10-11:30am to schedule take out orders.

--Little Falls Fire Chief Craig Seelen stated that the fire department was called to help in a one vehicle rollover accident Wednesday morning at 6:21am on Highway 371 and Lawson Road. As they arrived on scene with law enforcement, it was informed that the driver had gotten out out of the vehicle. There were no injuries.

--A 40-year-old Red Lake woman was injured Monday after she rear-ended a vehicle slowing to make a turn on Highway 64 in Cass County. The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the crash, reported at 5:45pm in May Township, north of Motley. According to the crash report, a 2019 GMC Terrain and a 2011 Nissan Murano were northbound on the highway when the driver of the Nissan slowed to make a left turn onto 110th Street Southwest. The GMC rear-ended the slowing Nissan and ended up in the west ditch. The driver of the GMC, Holly Beth English, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Lakewood Health System in Staples. English’s passenger, Aaron Cody Cook, 31, of Red Lake; and the Nissan driver, Erica Lynn Lowe, 18, of Brainerd, and her passenger, Grace Elaine Jensvold, 18, of Brainerd, suffered no injuries.

--Pequot Lakes Police Chief Eric Klang announced his intention to run for the Crow Wing County sheriff’s position in the November election. Klang, who has served as Pequot Lakes police chief since 2011, previously served as Crow Wing County Sheriff from 2003-2006. Klang worked in the sheriff’s office from 1992-2011. He has more than three decades of law enforcement and also working with emergency management during his time with the county.

--No criminal charges will be filed against the officers involved in serving a no-knock warrant on a Minneapolis apartment that ended in the fatal shooting of Amir Locke. Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman and Attorney General Keith Ellison made the announcement in a press release sent out Wednesday morning. Freeman and Ellison did further explain the decision not to charge the officer or any others involved in serving the warrant. Both said prosecutors have an ethical responsibility to not file charges in a case they feel cannot be proven beyond a reasonable doubt, according to laws on the books. Both spoke of the need to examine the use, even the existence of no-knock warrants, and urged reform in the way officers are trained so another life is not needlessly lost.

--A reminder that today as part of the Severe Weather Awareness Week there will be statewide tornado drills today at 1:45pm and then tonight at 6:45pm. Emergency Management officials as asking for the first one that offices with daytime shifts, schools and other facilities use this to prepare in case of severe weather. The evening one is set up for families at home and evening works to take time to get prepared in case severe weather hits.

--Camp Ripley announced Wednesday that they will be using the railroad tracks north of Little Falls to Camp Ripley and this will cause some delays with the slower train travel on the tracks over the next several days in Little Falls and north to Camp Ripley.

--The Minnesota State Patrol reported a fatal accident on Highway 371 in Cass County near Backus Wednesday morning at 7:36am. The State Patrol stated the accident was a head-on due to slippery roads but have not released any information including names at this time.

--A St. Cloud business owner has been sentenced to prison for committing wire fraud. 60-year-old Hared Nur Jibril of St. Cloud was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison followed by three years of supervised released and must pay over $4.1-million in restitution. Jibril pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and one count of wire fraud back in December. According to court documents, Jibril owned and operated Hormud Meat and Grocery Market in St. Cloud from 2009 to 2021. In 2009, Jibril applied for and was granted certification for his business to participate in SNAP and was also authorized as a WIC vendor. Both programs require recertification. Records show between 2018 and 2021, Jibril and other employees came up with a scheme to defraud the U.S. Department of Agriculture by exchanging SNAP and WIC benefits for cash, phone minutes, personal care products and food from Jibril's adjoining restaurant. The scheme resulted in a loss of more than $4.1-million to the SNAP and WIC programs. Court records show during the spring and summer of 2020, Jibril also applied for unemployment benefits, claiming he had been laid off from work due to the pandemic, despite his continued self-employment. He received more than $32,000 in unemployment assistance.

--Sauk Rapids native Anthony Bemboom was informed he made the Baltimore Orioles opening day roster. The 32-year old broke into the Major Leagues at the age of 29 with the Tampa Bay Rays before seeing time with the Los Angeles Angels in 2019-2021. He's played 54 career games with 4 home runs and 11 RBIs with a batting average of .178. The Baltimore Orioles open the 2022 season at the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday.

--The Pierz Pioneer Musical Rock around the Block is tonight at 7pm at the PAC in Pierz High School. The event is free for all to attend.

TWINS= The Minnesota Twins around 7am yesterday morning announced the decision to move the home opener scheduled for today to Friday at 3:10pm with pregame at 2:30pm on Q92. The breakfast at the plaza also scheduled for this morning has been moved to tomorrow morning 6-9am, and then gates opening at 1pm with the game to start at 3:10pm at Target Field now on Friday.
COL HK= Gophers vs. MSU-Mankato in the Frozen Four semi-final tonight, the other game is Michigan vs. Denver with the winners playing on Saturday for the NCAA Mens Hockey Championship.
HS BAB= The Pierz baseball scheduled for today has been postponed to next Thursday April 14th at 5pm on 94ROCKS.
