--The Minnesota State Patrol has released the names of the people involved in a deadly crash early Friday in Benton County. They say 17-year-old Nurban Ruvelsi-Perez died in the crash. His hometown has not been listed yet. The driver, 27-year-old Aler Gomez-Lucas is listed as having life-threatening injuries. His hometown is not listed either. It is believed he had alcohol in his system. There was also a 17-year-old passenger in that vehicle who was not hurt. His name has not been released. The driver of a second vehicle, 20-year-old Myles Wochnik of Royalton, was not hurt. The State Patrol says he did not have alcohol in his system. The State Patrol says the incident happened at about 3:30am Friday on Highway 10 between Rice and Sauk Rapids in Watab Township. A vehicle driven by Gomez-Lucas was eastbound when it left the road, went into the ditch, and rolled coming to a rest on its roof. Ruvelis-Perez was ejected from the vehicle and was struck by the vehicle driven by Wochnik. The State Patrol said first it was reported the Wochnik was being searched for after the accident for leaving the scene. All the State Patrol stated is that Wochnik has been cooperating with authorities in the case.

--The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Tuesday at approximately 5:11pm, their office received a report of a motorcycle accident near the intersection of Nature Road and Great River Road, approximately two miles east of Bowlus in Two Rivers Township. According to the Sheriff’s Office, a motorcycle driven by 58-year-old Michael Eisenreich of St. Cloud, MN was traveling east on Nature Road. Eisenreich lost control of the motorcycle after a deer
ran out in front of him, causing him to crash. He was transported to St. Cloud Hospital by Mayo Clinic Ambulance with unknown injuries.

--The St. Cloud Police Department is alerting the community to a level three sex offender that is moving into town. Twenty-nine-year-old Clarence Flowers will be moving into the 100 block of 12th Avenue North upon his release from custody on August 21st. Flowers was convicted of criminal sexual conduct for grooming an underage girl and then sexually assaulting her. Police say Flowers has served his sentence and is transitioning into the community. The St. Cloud Police Department will be posting a community notification video detailing information on Flowers's release under the police department heading on the city's website.

--A north St. Cloud man faces charges after a standoff with police on Saturday morning. Officers received a call just before 10:30am regarding a threats complaint involving a shotgun. They were dispatched to the 4700 block of 5th Street Northeast where 45-year-old Steven Weissenfluh refused to answer the door or cooperate with police. SWAT officers were called in to serve a search warrant and arrest Weissenfluh. Several hours later, officers made entry and arrested Weissenfluh at around 6pm. He was treated for exposure to chemical irritants before being booked into the Benton County Jail on suspicion of domestic assault. A 43-year-old female victim was not hurt. As part of the search, authorities say they recovered two 12-gauge shotguns inside the residence.

--There will be a Randall Fire Department fundraiser on Tuesday at Bingo Park in Randall with the group Soul Fun performing at 6:30pm. This is a free will donation and all proceeds going to the help the Randall Fire Department. All are welcome and bring your lawn chair.

–A two vehicle accident with injuries occurred at 2:23pm back on Friday afternoon on Highway 10 at Parkway Drive in Randall. 83-year-old Doris Biermaier of Long Prairie was stopped on 1st Street facing west of Highway 10 pulled forward and was struck by a vehicle driven by 63-year-old David Kuettel of Edina. The State Patrol reported that neither driver was injured. Then in an updated released yesterday stated that a passenger in the Kuettel vehicle 66-year-old Maureen Kavanaugh of Edina was taken to the hospital in Little Falls with what the State Patrol stated was non life threatening injuries.

--The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has issued an Air Quality Alert for fine particles pollution. The Air Quality Index is expected to reach the Red or Unhealthy category today and Friday. Some members of the general public may experience health effects. Sensitive groups, such as people with lung disease (including asthma), heart disease, and children an older adults, may experience health effects. Heavy ground-level smoke from wildfires is the major culprit for the Air Quality Alert in effect through 11pm Friday night.

--The Minnesota State Patrol is reminding motorists of a large traffic presence this weekend in the Brainerd Lakes Area for the annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals racing event at Brainerd International Raceway starting today and going through Sunday. Pro Stock are also making their return for the first time in three years. The State Patrol expects congestion and delays along Highway 371 throughout the weekend and thousands are expected to attend the large racing event at BIR this year. If you plan on going through the lakes area this weekend expect slow downs and delays in areas or you may need to find an alternate route in spots to avoid the congestion. The State Patrol also reminds motorist to please put safety first, slow down in congested areas, stop the distracted driving and never drive under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances legal or not.

--This morning at 9am, U.S. 7th District Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach will be speaking at the W.O.C. Kort Miller Plantenberg Post Office Dedication in Avon. Representatives Fischbach and 6th District Congressman Tom Emmer introduced legislation that was signed into law last year renaming the Avon Post Office to honor W.O.C. Kort Miller Plantenberg, who was tragically killed in a Minnesota Army National Guard helicopter crash in December 2019.

--The Knight of Columbus #1804 are hosting a hot dogs, hamburger and corn feed at Holy Family Parish of Belle Prairie on next Friday, August 25th, corn huskers are to arrive at 3pm, food to be served starting from 4-7pm, adults are $10, children ages 5-10 are $5 and all ages 4 and under are free. This is for Altar Servers Appreciation Night where awards, certificates and blessed medals will be handed out to those at the event on the 25th in Belle Prairie, all are welcome.
