NEWS
--The Sunny Zwilling Memorial Ice Carousel Event on LAND this year is this weekend Saturday 10am-6pm and Sunday 10am-4pm now on the Darling Green Prairie Park and beach area near the ice. This year will look different as many activities are being put together in the park area instead of the ice. Experience a jam-packed schedule of activities for all ages, including human foosball, "Frozen" Forest, underwater ROV, giant blue blocks and legos, wagon rides with Santa, Giant Jenga, 4 corner volleyball, and so much more! Plus, we just got approval from the sheriff to have hockey, curling, and human bowling. And don't forget the chance to get a FREE kids eye exam onsite. Don't miss the special events starting Saturday at 4:00pm, including a Color Guard presentation, international competition, and an incredible fireworks show at 6:15pm. Get ready to witness the magic of World Ice Carousel Day, featuring former and current world record holders from Estonia, Finland, Quebec, and Maine sharing in the international fun! And of course, enjoy FREE food and beverages at our HUGE warming tent, and grab your raffle tickets for a chance to win cash prizes! The event also is a fundraiser to help the Flyer Pride Pack the local elementary schools and Kare Kloset at the High School to help feed hungry and needy kids. --A special election has been announced to fill a vacant seat in the Minnesota House of Representatives. The election to fill the seat left by Representative Kurt Daudt of District 27B will take place on Tuesday, March 19th. The district includes parts of Anoka, Isanti, Mille Lacs, and Sherburne counties. Daudt had served in the state legislature since 2011 and was the Speaker of the House from 2015 to 2019. He announced his resignation in January and ended his tenure one day before the start of the legislative session. All nominating petitions and affidavits of candidacy must be filed with the Secretary of State or a county auditor between Wednesday and Thursday at 5pm. A special primary will be held ahead of the election on Thursday, February 29th if needed.

--The CEE-VI Drug and Gang Task Force says it arrested a Litchfield man after he tried to flee following an attempted traffic stop. The incident happened Friday. Members of the group were conducting surveillance on the 39-year-old’s home when they noticed him exit the house and begin to drive away. As they moved to pull him over, the man took off in his car. He crashed a little over a mile from where the initial stop was attempted. The accident happened at CSAH 1 and West Ripley Street. He was arrested on multiple charges. A press release says the task force executed a search warrant after the apprehension. Members found roughly 50 fentanyl pills plus more than 10 ounces of methamphetamine and cash. The release says the task force was helped by the Litchfield Police Department and the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office during the investigation.

--St. Rita's Parish in Hillman is hosting their prime rib dinner Saturday night February 17th and then also they will have a Quilt Bingo on February 25th both at the church in Hillman.

--Little Falls Radio has been informed by the Sobieski and Swanville Lions their Fishing Tournament February 24th has been canceled for fishing on the lake this year due to the poor ice conditions. However their large raffle will take place on the 24th at 6pm at Lucky's in Swanville. Tickets available from any Lions member for the event on the 24th. Again their will be no fishing on the ice this year for the Sobieski Swanville Lions on the 24th just the raffle that night.

--One person is dead and five other people were hurt in a house fire in Alexandria Wednesday morning. The fire was reported just after 6:30am in the 1000 block of Jefferson Street. Several agencies responded to the scene where authorities learned six people were living there. One man was found dead inside the home and the five others were taken to the hospital in Alexandria. Three of the five were then airlifted to the Hennepin County Medical Center and the remaining two were treated and released. The Alexandria Police Department says one of their officers and a sheriff's Deputy were hurt during rescue efforts and were treated for their injuries.

--The St. Cloud Police Department are reporting a theft of tires and rims from the 2500 block of 2nd Street South. St. Cloud Police are also reporting a burglary on the 300 block of 11th Avenue North. It was reported that a front door to a residence had been forced open. St. Cloud Police are also reporting a knife complaint on 6th Avenue South and University Drive South. There was a report of a man walking in the area with a knife, wearing a red sweatshirt was carrying a long silver knife and reportedly lunged at the complainant but no contact was made. Officers were unable to locate the suspect. Little Falls Police in the past weeks continue to take theft, fraud and suspicious activity reports, a reminder to contact your local police department or county sheriff's office if you notice suspicious activity. NATIONAL NEWS
--Eight children were among 22 people hit by gunfire in a shooting at the end of Wednesday's parade to celebrate the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl win. One person was killed, a mother of two identified by her radio station as a DJ. Three people are in custody according to Kansas City police. It was reported that some injured were critical.

NFL= no surprise that the Super Bowl on Sunday was the most watch television program of all time with 122 million+ people tuning in by TV, computer, phone or other devices.
KC= Congratulations to Austyn Scheel, Lilly Kimman, Annabelle Stangl, Morgan Killpinger, Amber Boser and Macy Sadlovsky for girls and Shayne Pohlkamp, Issac Herold, Cody Johnson, Brady Pohlkamp, Cameron Waytashek and Brayden Dehn who advanced to the Region Competition last Sunday for KC Three Throw Competition for ages 9-14. The region contest will be February 25th at Aitkin High School.
