NEWS
--A motorcycle crash in Morrison County sent one man to the hospital. The Minnesota State Patrol says it happened at about 8:00pm Tuesday on Highway 10 near Little Falls. 69-year old Duane Meyer of Little Falls was going north when he lost control of the bike on a corner and went into the median. Meyer was taken to St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls with non-life threatening injuries.

--Congratulations to the farms up for the 2018 Minnesota Farm Family of the Year which will be awarded at Farmfest near Redwood Falls on August 9th. From Morrison County it is the Borash Family. Gary Borash and his son Jeff, co-own and operate Borash's Wholesale Live Bait in Royalton which has been in the family since 1960. The operation hatches up to three million eggs per season and stocks them in over 1,100 acres of ponds. The Farm Family Recognition Program is coordinated by the University of Minnesota Extension; the College of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources Sciences; and the College of Veterinary Medicine and recognizes families from Minnesota's 87 counties who have made significant contributions to Minnesota agriculture and their communities. Other counties announced were Crow Wing County who has Kris and Andy Schubert. The Schuberts' ranch is primarily a Black Angus based cow/calf operation with about 350 cows. They own 600 acres in Crow Wing County. Their operation uses about 1,500 acres of owned and rented land for fields and pasture. The Schuberts have 10 horses they use on the ranch and for competing in rodeos. In Todd County it is Tim and Linda Stelling. In Stearns County it is Dan and Crystal Ley. In Benton County it is Dan and Deb Hennek and in Mille Lacs County it is Sonneck Farms. Again, the 2018 Farm Family of the Year will be awarded at Farmfest 2018 near Redwood Falls on August 9th. Area legislators including District 9B Representative Ron Kresha of Little Falls has congratulated the farm fest nominations for 2018.

--A Grove City teenager had to be airlifted to the hospital after a Meeker County crash Tuesday evening. 17-year old Justin Voss was driving north on 545th Avenue in Danielson Township when the crash happened just before 7:00pm. At the same time, 29-year old Thomas Huisman of rural Atwater was heading east on 210th Street. Voss was airlifted to the Hennepin County Medical Center and Huisman was not hurt in the crash.

--Fire destroyed a home Tuesday on the 9600 block of Sunrise Lane in Pelican Township. The Pequot Lakes Fire Department was called before 5:00pm to a fire in the basement of the home in rural Pequot Lakes. Fire Chief Tom Nelson said the fire started in the basement and burned the basement ceiling and main floor of the house. Nelson said the house was still standing, but was a total loss as the floor trusses burned in the middle of the house. Nelson said the cause of the fire was unknown and under investigation. Nelson said the owner of the home, Thomas Kirkpatrick, was outside and saw smoke coming out from under the deck.

--The Morrison County Fair is August 9-11th. Clint Kathrein informed Little Falls Radio this week that their will be a midway of rides this year, also this year the return of pig races on Friday, a variety show, Friday Night Lights featuring barrel racing, grandstand acts, music and plenty of agriculture to show off the best in the county, white tigers on display and much more during the 3 days. --A two-day microsurfacing project on 14 different streets in Northeast and Southeast Little Falls, will have a normal route disrupted for some motorists. Microsurfacing is a thin layer of asphalt and granite chips that helps seal minor cracks and extend the life of the pavement. The project will start this Friday and is expected to be completed Saturday. Work will be done on these streets: 13th Avenue Northeast between 11th Street Northeast and U.S. Highway 10. Edward Terrace between 11th Street Northeast and the end. 11th Avenue Northeast between Sixth Street Northeast and Eighth Street Northeast. 10Th Avenue Northeast between Sixth Street Northeast and 11th Street Northeast. Ninth Avenue Northeast between Seventh Street Northeast and Ninth Avenue Northeast. Eighth Avenue Northeast between Fifth Street Northeast and Ninth Street Northeast, Seventh Avenue Northeast between Sixth Street Northeast and Ninth Street Northeast. --The Pierz Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the moving vehicle and people that are around it in a video they shared on their facebook page. If you know the owner of the vehicle or those partaking in the challenge, please contact the Pierz Police Department. The Pierz Police Department does not and will not tolerate the new "Shiggy Challenge/In My Feelings" Challenge. This is not only a careless and reckless challenge, but also a very dangerous one. WILD= The Minnesota Wild signed forward Jason Zucker to a five year deal worth $27.5 million dollars Wednesday afternoon.
