NEWS
--The City of Pierz stated on July 27th, 2022, the city experienced a loss of pressure in the water system due to failure on a control panel. A loss of water pressure means that contamination could have entered our drinking water distribution system. There is an increased chance that the drinking water may contain bacteria that could make you sick. The affected area includes: The Cities of Pierz & Genola. The city is taking the following steps to correct the problem: We are getting new part for the control panel. We will let you know when tests show the water is safe to drink and you no longer need to boil your water. We expect to resolve the problem within couple of days. Thanks for your understanding. --Loans are available to those affected by the storms and flooding in June 2022. Minnesota businesses and residents affected by the severe storms and flooding from June 23rd to 24th may apply for low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration, SBA Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman announced Wednesday. Administrator Guzman made the loans available in response to a letter from Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, requesting a disaster declaration by the SBA. Businesses and residents in the declared area can now apply for low-interest disaster loans from the SBA. The declaration covers Morrison County and the adjacent counties of Benton, Cass, Crow Wing, Mille Lacs, Stearns and Todd Counties. To assist businesses and residents affected by the disaster, the SBA will open a Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) at the Randall Fire Hall at 11:00am until 6:00pm today. Moving forward hours will be weekdays from 9am-6pm and Saturdays 10am-2pm. It will be closed Sundays and closes permanently at 4:00pm Thursday, August 11th.

--St. Cloud police arrested two people after shots were fired during a fight in south St. Cloud on Monday night just before 8:30pm. Officers were in the area of the 1000 Block of 8th Avenue South searching for a suspect who had assaulted an officer. While searching for the suspect, officers heard gunshots. Dispatch also received multiple calls that people were in the 1000 Block of 9 Avenue South fighting. When officers returned to the 1000 Block of 9th Avenue South, they found a large fight in the parking lot. Multiple people fled as officers arrived. Officers were able to stop and arrest 18-year-old Javoury Evans from St. Cloud. A 14-year-old boy, from St. Cloud, will also be charged for his involvement in this incident. He was released to his parent. At some point during the fight, an unidentified male fled the area and fired multiple rounds while running from the scene. There were no reported injuries in this incident.

–The Crow Wing County Fair is August 2nd-6th. Tuesday is Military Day with a military style event at 5:30pm then a rodeo that night. Wednesday is Senior Day with senior day recognition, Model T and antique tractor parade, music, Demolition Derby and Rollover Contest that night and AM960 KLTF Party Line live at the fair at 10:05am. Then Thursday 94ROCKS will be live at the fair from 2-5pm. Grandstand events and music every day next week in Brainerd.

--The next Markets and Music on the Mississippi is today starting with markets at 3pm at LeBourget Park in Little Falls, there will be farmers markets, attractions on hand, food and beverages, kids games, fire trucks and other vehicles to view and more. The music begins at 6pm by the group Power Plant who ten years started at the U Rock events through the St. Francis Music Center getting back together for a show tonight. --Little Falls Community Schools is holding Registration Week August 9th-11th. All families of the District, both new and returning, are urged to come to the Community High School Commons during the week to register students who will be attending school in the District. Representatives of all five buildings will be available to help make sure all necessary paperwork is completed before school begins. Registration Week will allow families to complete all necessary paperwork for all of their children in one location. Registration Week will be held at the High School on the following dates and times. Tuesday, August 9, 2022 8am-3pm, Wednesday, August 10, 2022 12pm-7pm, Thursday, August 11, 2022 12pm-7pm, There is no need to set up an appointment – just find a time slot that works well for your family. --The Brainerd Police Department reported on Tuesday at 11:17am, the police department received a report of an unconscious male in a parking lot off of Maple Street. Officers say the 62-year-old man was later pronounced deceased by emergency medical services. It is believed the man was riding a motorized foot scooter when he fell to the ground causing traumatic injuries. No others vehicles or individuals are believed to be a factor in the incident. The identity of the man is being withheld pending notification of family members.

--Doug Luepke of the Royalton Lions was on Party Line Wednesday and invites everyone to the 27th Annual Platte River Day on Saturday in Royalton. Parade at 11am, Auction at 12:30pm, this year a classic car show 12-4 at the Legion, Magic Comedy Show at 2pm at the library, minnow races, duck races, egg toss, Lions Dinner, food and games all afternoon, the Grand Raffle for $5,000 at 5:30pm and the Fabulous Armadillos play from 8pm-12am Saturday in Royalton. The biggest fundraiser of the year for the Royalton Lions Club. A reminder that the 16th annual Platte River 5K is sponsored by the Royalton High School Track and Field team. Also available is a Child's Fun Run (FREE) and a K-9 Walk/Run for dogs and owners. This is cross country team/track and field team fundraiser.

--After a premature announcement late Tuesday, it was officially reported yesterday afternoon that actor Tony Dow who played the older brother Wally Cleaver on Leave It to Beaver had died at 77.

TWINS= Brewers sweep the Twins winning 10-4 yesterday. Twins have today off, travel to San Diego to take on the Padres Friday.
LF= The Little Falls Community School Flyers Activities Sports Meeting is Monday, August 8th at 7pm at the High School Auditorium. There will be a meeting for all fall, winter and spring sports. Parents/athletes will need to complete the registration process on Flyer Activities Website or the registration table will be available starting at 6pm before the meeting.
