--Morrison County Administrator Deb Gruber spoke on KLTF yesterday and has some reminders to the county residents. The Real ID requirement has been extended for domestic travel once again and the deadline is now May 3rd, 2023 and there is no rush to get the Real ID requirements at this time. Gruber said road construction is still very busy around the county which the weekly reminders read on Littel Falls Radio and on the daily newsletter. Gruber said they have received half of the American Rescue Plan dollars to help small businesses and others affected by the pandemic in 2020. The hope is that the other half of these funds will be received by the county sometime next year in 2022. These are different than the CARES dollars and there are more options, opportunities and time to get these put together to help those still struggling from last year. Gruber said that most of the government center is back to normal with not mask mandates. However, the judicial system is still working via zoom and using other case work virtually but getting back to a near normal process also the State of Minnesota Exams is NOT open yet in Little Falls but that is a state agency not a county function and Gruber was not sure when that will be returning. If you have questions for county agencies contact Gruber at 632-2941.

--This early season heatwave and lack of rain has dropped the water on the Mississippi River to an unusually low level this early in the season. The normal average June flow is 7,150 cubic feet per second. For St. Cloud to run its hydroelectric dam at 100 percent the river needs to be at 6,400 cubic feet per second. Once that number drops to 1,700 cubic feet per second the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources requires the city to shut off one of the two units. That happened earlier this week when the flow dropped to 1,570. With only one of two units now operating that means electricity generated by the dam is cut in half, also cutting the city's revenue in half.

--Sauk Rapids has lifted its city-wide watering ban and is returning to its odd/even lawn sprinkling schedule. The city says citations will be issued to property owners who don’t comply with the odd/even watering ordinance, which says even-numbered addresses can water their lawns on even-numbered dates, and vice versa for odd-numbered addresses. Sauk Rapids’ splash pad, which was closed during the watering ban, is set to reopen Friday, but the city’s wading pool will still be closed. Both Sartell and Sauk Rapids issued watering bans last week in response to high water demands as the region faces abnormally dry to moderate drought conditions.
