NEWS
--Today is the first of the three Markets and Music on the Mississippi at LeBourget Park in Little Falls. Markets and events start at 3pm with attractions, kids games, face painting, farmers markets, food and beverages and more. Human foosball, area law enforcement and firefighters are expected to be on hand. The music starts at 6pm with Levi Pelzer Band taking the stage. Also this year the Little Falls Radio Cash Cube will be used by visit Little Falls and other volunteers, register for a chance to be in the cash cube before the music, one person in each of the age groups will get a chance in the Cash Cube tonight. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the night at LeBourget Park.

--Authorities stated that an armed standoff between law enforcement and a hold up man in St. Michael has come to an end after the man was shot by authorities in an "armed confrontation." Wright County says the man has been taken to an area hospital and his condition is unknown at this time. Officials added no law enforcement personnel were harmed during the confrontation, but authorities continue to secure the area amid a pending investigation. The public is asked to stay away until further notice, and updates will be provided by the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. On Wednesday, a St. Michael neighborhood had originally been blocked off, as officers and deputies tried to resolve the standoff. The man fired several rounds at law enforcement, but fortunately, no one was hit. The stand off began on Tuesday and deputies tried many times to resolve a standoff with an armed man who has multiple warrants out for his arrest. The suspect was identified by the sheriff's office as 39-year-old Brandon Gardas. Again the standoff ended Wednesday night.

--A St. Cloud woman faces felony assault charges after allegedly hitting two other women with a baseball bat. 32-year-old Elizabeth Huggins is charged with two counts of 2nd-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. Court records show a number of women were fighting in the parking lot of a Waite Park bar early Sunday morning when another group of women tried to break it up. Court records show Huggins hit one woman as many as three times in the head and a second woman across the shoulder area. The first woman also suffered a broken foot when the car Huggins was leaving in drove over her foot. Huggins made her first court appearance Tuesday.

--A 37-year-old woman who was injured after her legs were pinched between a boat and dock Friday on Gull Lake, has been identified as Angela Remmick of East Gull Lake. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash, reported at 4:08pm in East Gull Lake. According to the report, deputies and responders arrived and learned the operator of a pontoon was attempting to dock when a mechanical failure caused the boat to accelerate into the dock. Remmick attempted to stop the watercraft from hitting the dock by sitting down and putting her feet out to stop it. She was unable to stop the watercraft and her feet slid under the front of the pontoon, causing her legs to be pinched between the dock and the watercraft. Remmick was treated on scene for injuries and later transported via helicopter to North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale.

--Mandy Dens of the Brainerd Ski Loons stated on KLTF this week they have the first of their traveling shows tonight in Ruttgers Resort on the Bay in Deerwood, this is a free event though donations are accepted. They will also have their live shows starting at Lum Bark in Brainerd on July 17th at 5pm and more through the summer months.

--Last week, 42-year-old Michael J. Thielen was charged in Morrison County District Court with three gross misdemeanors and three misdemeanors for baiting and killing a bear out of season. Court records say authorities interviewed Thielen at his home and he admitted to baiting the bear with bird seed and doughnuts and killing it the night of July 28th, 2021. Authorities say Thielen took 60 to 70 pounds of meat from the bear and left the skull outside for insects to clean off. He bought a bear hunting license a few weeks later to attempt to hide the out-of-season hunt. Charges include using artificial lights to hunt, wanton waste of an animal, hunting out of season, hunting bear without a license, and baiting the bear.

--A reminder that absentee voting for any primary election in Minnesota begins tomorrow. This includes Governor, State Senate, State Representative, U.S. Congress and other races which needs a primary to lower the number of candidates per party. For voting information contact your local city or county voting administrator.

--Lakes area law enforcement are reminding motorists to expect delays the next three days when the Lakes Jam music festival will be at Brainerd International Raceway tonight through Saturday with Country and Rock shows. There will be extra traffic around the raceway over the next few days. Also on Saturday before the concert the Great American Race of antique cars are also making a stop in Brainerd that afternoon at the raceway to show off their classic automobiles on their way to Detroit Lakes and then Fargo. So again a reminder to expect delays and slow downs if traveling around the BIR raceway now through Saturday.

--Sister Julien stated that they received 83 units of blood on Tuesday that is 10 more than their goal and thanked all who donated this week. Appointments can be made for the next blood drive which will be August 22-23 at the Convent. Call 320-632-0663.

NATIONAL NEWS
--President Joe Biden Wednesday called on Congress to suspend federal gasoline and diesel taxes for three months. The President also calls on states to suspend their own gas taxes or provide similar relief to motorists getting ready for the 4th of July weekend next week.

TWINS= Twins blow a 3 run lead in the 9th as Cleveland comes back to win 11-10 over Twins last night. The Twins wrap up series with Cleveland Guardians today, pregame at 11:30am on Q92 WYRQ.
MLB= All Star Voting phase 1 continues through June 30th, currently Twins players, outfielder Byron Buxton and infielders Luis Arreaz and Carlos Correa are high on the list to be possible all stars but needs the votes at MLB.com. The All Star Game is July 19th in Denver.
NHL= Colorado wins in overtime 3-2 last night over Tampa Bay to take a 3-1 series lead in Stanley Cup Finals. Game 5 is Friday night.
