NEWS
--A 33-year old man and a 21-year old man were arrested following a police chase Sunday, March 1st that began in Baxter and ended in Morrison County. The Baxter Police Department reported its officers were notified at 8:23pm of a suspicious vehicle at the AmericInn by Wyndham hotel in Baxter. The vehicle was the subject of an alert from the Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Office. The alert stated the vehicle and the occupants were wanted for assault, robbery, kidnapping and false imprisonment. Baxter police reported they were armed with a handgun. While officers were locating the vehicle, two men ran to it, entered and drove away from the scene. A pursuit ensued that went through Baxter, Brainerd and south down Highway 25. The vehicle left the road in Morrison County, where the men then fled on foot. The men were apprehended and arrested for fleeing, weapons violations and drug possession. A handgun was recovered at the scene. No injuries were reported.

--Now that Super Tuesday is over, next Tuesday is Township Elections for a number of Morrison County Townships who will have elections for supervisor and clerk. Though many have moved their elections to the General Election Day in November, some are still next week. If you need to find out if your township has elections on March 10th contact your local township official or the secretary of state's website. Also the Secretary of State's office reported on how Morrison County voted on Super Tuesday. Republicans had one choice on the ballot. Of those President Donald J. Trump received 99.33% of Morrison County Republican Voters. The DFL votes in Morrison County went to Joe Biden 706 votes 43.18%, Bernie Sanders 318 votes 19.45%, Amy Klobuchar 221 votes 13.52%, Michael Bloomberg 204 votes 12.48%. Numerous others received under 30 votes in the county Tuesday for DFL. Other area counties, Benton showed Biden 982 to Sanders 817 for DFL, Crow Wing Biden 2325 votes, Sanders 1139 votes, Blooomberg was 3rd with 576 votes. Stearns went to Biden 4204 votes, Sanders had 3355 votes and Elizabeth Warren was 3rd with 1271 votes. Todd County DFL voted Biden 605 to Sanders 239 and Bloomberg 116 and Mille Lacs went to Biden 653 to Sanders 413 and Bloomberg 196. In all on the Republican side President Trump received on average around 96-98% of all Republican votes in the counties Tuesday as he was the only candidate on the ballot.

--The Todd County Sheriff's Office last weekend reported from Willis Greeley of Bertha a theft from a storage locker at the Bertha Manor. They also received a report of a damaged vehicle parked by the Seven Oaks Express in Bertha which had sustained damage to the windows and tires over night. Both incidents are currently under investigation. During the week of February 16th through February 22nd, the Todd County Sheriff's Office responded to 194 calls for service. The following were the types of calls: 82 traffic stops, 20 civil process, 7 suspicious activity type complaints, 5 car/deer accidents, 4 disturbances/domestics, 4 vehicles in the ditch, 2 phone/email scams, 4 suicide threats/attempts, 4 welfare checks, and 2 accidents.

--Kinship of Morrison County will be hosting the former Kiwanis Fish Fry this Friday from 4:30-7pm at the Little Falls VFW, $10 for adults. Proceeds go to the Kinship mentoring programs.

--The Winter Wonderland Figure Skating Club presents “One Hit Wonders” this Saturday at 2pm and 7pm and then again on Sunday at 2pm, tickets $8 at the Exchange Arena in Little Falls.

--The Pierz City Council meets Monday at 7pm at Pierz City Hall.

--The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for several counties in Minnesota today from 9am to 6pm. Northwest winds will be between 20 and 35 miles an hour, with gusts as high as 45 miles an hour. The strongest winds will develop across western Minnesota in the morning and then spread east through noon. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could blowdown and a few power outages may result.

--The Department of Natural Resources annnounced that the nice weather has caused ice and trail conditions to be deteriorating fast. Area snowmobile trails are getting pretty rough. Enforcement action was taken for shelters being left at public water accesses and license violations. People are reminded that fish houses needed to be removed from the lakes in the central and southern regions of the state last Monday. The northern third have until March 15th to remove the fish houses to areas north of Higway 200.

--U.S. Vice President Mike Pence will be in Minnesota today as he and the Second Lady will be visiting 3M in Minnesota. They will see the work that 3M is doing to aid in the Coronavirus response as they work to produce protective equipment that will help keep our health care providers and those affected by the virus safe.

--St. Francis of Assisi Church in St. Francis (4 miles south of Upsala on Highway 238) will perform Journey with Jesus to Calvary that shows the week from Palm Sunday to the crucifixiton and ressurection of Christ on Easter. This is the 12th year of the performance but this year will only be on three days to see it. Shows are at 7pm Wednesday April 1st, many Religious Education classes bring students to this one and then the shows will be Saturday April 4th at 7:30pm and Palm Sunday, April 5th at 1pm at the church. The shows are all free of charge as Jesus already paid the price.

--Following very poor results on Super Tuesday, Michael Bloomberg announced yesterday that he is ending his Presidental campaign and is endorsing Joe Biden for the DFL nomination for President.
