NEWS
--A reminder that the Coffee with the Cop and Prescription Take Back Event for unwanted or outdated prescription drugs is today at the Little Falls City Hall building from 8:30am-10am, all are welcome.

--Another reminder that the Morrison County Sheriff's Office Sandbox fill is today starting at 7am until all are completed. You had to have signed up for the sandbox fill beforehand. A food item or donation to the local food shelf is asked to be placed by the sandbox today.

--Governor Tim Walz has directed all flags at state and federal buildings in Minnesota to be flown at half-staff effective immediately until sunset this Saturday to honor the lives lost in the school shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday.

--Tony Housey of Camp Ripley stated that May was very busy but winding down from training. They will continue to have items out at the base and you will still see items on the train tracks north of Little Falls to Camp Ripley in the weeks ahead and plenty of vehicles from Camp out and about so some delays might occur while these are going. He congratulated the Biathlon teams that competed and that some locals advanced to the next round for the Warrior events this summer. Work is still moving forward on the Military Museum that is still a few years away from moving toward Highway 371. Housey also stated that some of the Camp Ripley officers will be involved as speakers, spectators and part of the Memorial Day programs going on around the Minnesota this weekend and of course on Monday.

--The wading pool at Bob Cross Park in Sauk Rapids announced they will remain closed until further notice due to a shortage of lifeguards. The school district's community education department is in charge of staffing the pool. The Sauk Rapids-Rice high school does offer a class for students to earn their lifeguard certification, however due to the last couple of years of COVID restrictions, fewer students have taken the class and that means fewer lifeguard for the pool this year.

--An Annandale woman is dead after a crash in Wright County Tuesday afternoon. Sheriff's deputies and Howard Lake Police responded to the area of County Road 6 Southwest and 30th Street Southwest just before 3:00pm. Authorities learned a car driven by 32-year-old Stephanie Tomann was heading north on the county road, drifted into the southbound lane, and struck an oncoming dump truck. Tomann was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the dump truck, 26-year-old Blake Koch of Darwin was not hurt

--USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) will mail the Conservation Practice Adoption Motivations Survey beginning May 30th to 681 Minnesota farmers and ranchers. The new survey is a joint project between NASS and USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) aimed at better understanding conservation practice adoption and the role of technical and financial assistance. The survey results will be used to guide the implementation of NRCS programs in the future. There are two versions of the survey this year – one requesting information on crop conservation practices and one for confined livestock conservation practices. If NASS does not receive producers’ completed surveys by June 13th, they may reach out to schedule telephone interviews. NASS encourages recipients to respond securely online at www.agcounts.usda.gov, using the 12-digit survey code mailed with the survey. Producers responding online will now use NASS’s new Respondent Portal. Completed questionnaires may also be mailed back in the prepaid envelope provided. All information reported by individuals will be kept confidential by federal law.

--For the first time since 2019, the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls will be hosting their Memorial Day Observance Program on the cemetery grounds. Music will begin at 1:30pm from the Richfield Symphonic Band, the program will be then at 2pm with the parade of flags, placing of memorial wreaths, Armed Forces Medley, music, a Memorial address, rifle salute and more. Erik Sogge at the Cemetery is asking those to bring your own lawn chairs for seating, carpool if possible as the grounds get very crowded quickly, umbrellas are recommended as the event will go on rain or shine and there is showers in the Sunday forecast. Any questions can be directed to the state cemetery at 320-616-2527. Sogge will also be the guest this morning on KLTF Community Events at 8:30am.

--Authorities are investigating a shooting that left a St. Cloud man dead. At around 7:45pm Tuesday, officers responded to a shooting at a home in the 1200 block of 10th Avenue South. Police arrived to find a man with a gunshot wound to his head. First responders began life saving efforts on the victim, who was taken to St. Cloud Hospital where he later died. The victim's body was sent to the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. Authorities believe the suspects had left the scene in a vehicle just before police arrived A few hours later, officers found the suspect's vehicle unoccupied on the east side of St. Cloud. Authorities say this is not believed to be a random incident and the case remains active. Anyone with information is asked to call St. Cloud Police 251-1200 or Tri-County Crime Stoppers 1-800-255-1301.

--Sister Julien of the St. Francis Convent is happy to announce that the next blood drive event will be back at St. Francis Hall inside the convent for the first time since 2019 next month. The blood drive will be held on June 20th from 1-7pm, June 21st from 12-6pm, and June 22nd will be from 8:30am-2:30pm. Appointments as still asked to be made by going online to redcrossblood.org or call Sister Julien to set up a time to give blood at 320-632-0663.

HS SB= Alexandria at Little Falls in playoffs today at 4pm where the winner moves on to Tuesday, loser would play again tonight in Little Falls against Sauk Rapids-Rice. The Flyer games on AM960 KLTF.
HS SB= Pierz vs. Pequot Lakes from Waite Park today at 5pm, where the winner moves to Tuesday, loser would play again tonight at 7pm in an elimination game against Albany. Pioneer games on 94ROCKS.
